When kids get older, some parents find it necessary to gift them items that they will “need” as they get older.
While some parents advocate for open and honest relationships with their kids, like discussing their sex lives and other personal issues, not every parent feels totally comfortable advocating for this kind of thing with their child. It’s personal preference when it comes to parents and their teens .
One mom on TikTok has divided some parents online over her decision.

TikTok user Janine Adamson recently shared a video of a gift that she made for her 16-year-old son to practice “safe and responsible sex.”
The gift in question is a “condom hamper” as she referred to it. Many people have been left with mixed responses to this idea.
The basket has a lot of different things inside of it.

Included in the “hamper” are wipes, lubricants, condoms, and some other items that people will use when they are getting down and dirty in the bedroom.
The mom claimed she is “too young” to become a nana, so she wanted to make sure her son was “prepared.”
Her son apparently found it funny and loved it.

And, many people online felt it was “responsible parenting.”
“These are the things teenagers need/want and are too afraid to ask for, she is giving him a safe place by doing this,” one person commented.
“It might be embarrassing, but it’s definitely better than being a teen parent! Good job,” one other person said.
However, not everyone agreed with this sentiment and felt that it was “inappropriate.”
Some people felt that it was “wrong” for the mom to get her son this gift at all, and that posting it online was taking it too far.
“I would actually never be able to look at my parents the same way,” one person said in the comment section.
“Why would you post this and embarrass your kid,” another questioned.
Do you think that it was awkward or clever for this mom?
