Many people who work in the service industry have to work more than people in other industries just to make ends meet. Servers often times make minimum wage , some of them even making less than that, and have to rely on their tips from customers to pay their bills.
Not everyone is a giving tipper , so the shifts can be long and grueling to hit their mark.
Serving is a truly hard job.

Shirell Lackey understands this firsthand.
Shirell Lackey, who works at a Waffle House in North Carolina, had to pick up a double shift in one day to make ends meet and pay the bills.
However, she had her daughter with her at the restaurant while she worked.
While working, she had a customer that she’ll always remember.
Lackey had a country music star come into the Waffle House and sit in her section.
The singer, who she wished to keep anonymous, found out that she was working the double and had her daughter there, too.
To her surprise, she was left a generous and thoughtful tip.
On the $12 order and check, Lackey received a $1,000 tip from the singer. Not only did she get the best tip ever seen by a server on a $12 bill, he also gave her two tickets to an upcoming show he was having.
The singer said he “respected the mother.”
“He was like, ‘I have to respect a mother that would do whatever it takes to support their child in a society where people don’t even want to work anymore,'” Lackey told Fox 8 News.
While the country music singer remained anonymous, we have to solute him.
A singer who is able to respect and recognize the hard work of a struggling mother is one that truly deserves respect and a solute.
