Food gives us the fuel we need to survive. Food can be complicated or simple, decadent or healthy. But we should really treat it with the respect of something we literally need to survive, don’t you think?
We owe a lot to food, and yet we continue to mistreat it. Let’s dig in to some of the ugliest food abominations in recent memory.

I concur with the other people in OP’s life when I say that no, this is absolutely not normal.
…I’d still eat it in a pinch, though. But dang if that isn’t an intimidating amount of starch.

I know that it’s fun to be liberal with the big can of grated cheese on spaghetti night. But it’s possible to have too much of a good thing.

I have no gripes with plant-based “meat” products. Usually, they look and taste just as good as the real thing. These sausages look like something, alright, but it isn’t what they were going for.

I know what went wrong: they forgot to include the cake part in the middle. Then, they compounded the issues by neglecting to inflate the cake using a basketball pump.
“My school’s $7 take on avocado toast.”
From what I’ve heard on the internet over the past few years, it’s this extravagant and sumptuous meal that’s been bankrupting all the millennials. This is way too bougie for my liking.
“My first attempt at making lemon tea.”
How do you mess up lemon tea this badly? Don’t you just put a bunch of teabags and lemons into water and leave it outside? Like, how is it possible to burn a drink?
“Two years ago I blessed the internet with the Spam Shot Glass. This year I got to go camping again and got the chance to recreate the iconic meat orifice, as well as create a NEW drink container which I humbly dubbed The Spam Flask.”
You’d think you’d have to consume pretty much the entire bottle to even conceptualize making a shot glass or a flask out of Spam, and yet, here we are.
“Chicken sandwich I ordered from a Dairy Queen in a small town. Not at all what I was expecting!”
I’m pretty sure there’s some kind of sad, shredded chicken on that bun. Hard to tell, though. It looks just like the texture of the bun itself.
“This was way cuter when I pictured it in my head.”
It’s kind of charming that you can see exactly what OP was going for here. It’s just a shame that it came out looking like a genetic experiment gone horribly wrong.

We need to address the elephant in the room: these are not chicken nuggets. They’re not even close. They could be sausages, but I’m not even totally sure of that.
“I saw a recipe for protein powder pancakes and decided to try protein waffles with a waffle maker I’ve never used before.”
This is one way to break in your brand new waffle iron. It’s also a great way to ensure that the waffle iron’s maiden voyage is also its final voyage.

I think we’ve gone too far with this one. Potato salad in a jug, exclusively from 7-Eleven? No need to refrigerate? No thanks.
“Birthday cake I made for my husband. He’s so lucky to have me.”
It’s possible to badly mess up a cake and still wind up with something that’s edible and even delicious. I’m not sure this cake can be salvaged, though.

I really try to be generous when I think of what constitutes a proper pizza topping, even if it’s something I don’t like. Pineapple is a valid topping. Anchovies are a valid topping. Peas and mayonnaise, though? Get that out of here.
“Microwaved hamburger patty with a baked potato.”
Honestly, I thought this was just a big serving of chocolate ice cream at first. Knowing what it actually is, and seeing those congealed hamburger juices, makes me want to throw up a little.
“I made a peanut butter and jello sandwich.”
There’s PB and J, then there’s this. I guess I’d call it the forbidden PB and J. It isn’t the most disgusting thing on this list by any means, but it still feels so wrong.
“Pickles…with milk.”
I know that peaches can be served with cream, and it makes for a delightful treat. Pickles and milk isn’t technically that far off, but that doesn’t make this sight any less nightmarish, to be honest with you.
“Sandwich my dad likes to eat, raw ground beef with raw onions and white pepper on hard bread.”
I’m not sure if this person’s dad has an acutely refined food palate, or if he’s a total monster. Probably a little bit of both — but he definitely has the breath of a monster, at least.
“Sliced homemade sourdough bread topped with creamy light brie cheese. Preheat oven to 350 and bake for 11 hours. Enjoy.”
This meal might be totally inedible, but on the plus side, it’s halfway to being properly burned and cremated.
“Al dente.”
I want to know what this person did to these noodles. They’re totally carbonized, and they even seem to be aglow with the flames of hellfire from below. Hopefully round two works out just a little bit better.
