Sure, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. But sometimes these beliefs are so terrible they cause literal fights on the internet.

For your enjoyment, and admittedly ours as well, we’ve gathered some of the most provocative opinions people shared on Reddit that had other users either scratching their heads in bewilderment or ready to go to battle in support.

“Flying cars is an awful idea and they should never happen.” — publicbathroomcrier

If flying cars worked for both Marty McFly and The Jetsons, then these airborne vehicles should work wonders for the 21st century, right?

Well, not according to this Redditor who believes flying cars are better kept to the realm of sci-fi. And surprisingly, other Reddit users were quick to share their support.

“There is no way I’d trust the millions of people banging into each other on the roads to pilot aircraft[s] over populated areas,” writes Redditor iconoclast63, and they certainly have a valid point.

“Melted ice cream tastes way better.” — thekwguy

“Isn’t it more of a [milkshake] or soup then?” asks Redditor Odd_Meet_8632 under the thread, who’s seemingly just as confused as we are by this very unpopular opinion.

And the answer to this question is that the room-temperature ice cream would be closest to a milkshake, which according to the original poster, makes the flavors much more distinct.

We’re so glad to hear that because we can definitely get behind the idea of an ice cream milkshake. Ice cream soup, on the other hand, sounds anything but appetizing.

“Time manipulation is the most powerful superpower.” — Upset_Cheesecake_520

We’re sure anyone who’s a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would agree with that statement, considering the universe’s most avenging villain was defeated by the use of time manipulation.

But not everyone was so on board with the idea.

“It is a good power but anyone with super speed [could physically] beat you before you can think of pausing time so physically you aren’t a match for anyone [who’s] faster than you,” shares Redditor boymarvel99, and honestly their explanation makes total sense.

“Bees are actually cute.” — Barry_Goldberg

“A lot of people I know are afraid of bees, and it seems kind of unfair to them,” the Redditor went on to explain.

And this is true, bees do tend to get a bad rep. Their freaky stingers, frequent buzzing in your ear, and ability to fly are enough to spook anyone.

So it’s no surprise that people tend to have a love and hate relationship with them. We think Redditor Itz_The_Rain summed it up quite well, saying: “Personally I love them, but I’m still kinda nervous to be near one.”

You and us both!

“Using a spoon is the best way to extract peanut butter.” — ClarenceTheGangsta

Image credit: Unsplash | Corleto Peanut butter
Unsplash | Corleto Peanut butter

The user provides several reasons as to why a spoon is the better choice for scooping peanut butter than, say, a knife.

The main, and perhaps most convincing, rationale is that a spoon provides a more exact measurement of the amount of peanut butter being picked up than a knife would. This is especially helpful for those counting calories like the Redditor does.

However, other Reddit users raised some concerns, like how the original poster gets the peanut butter off the spoon. Do they use another spoon? Their finger? We may never know.

“We should stop teaching children that money is bad.” — Cleara6244

Image credit: Pexels | Karolina Grabowska
Pexels | Karolina Grabowska

This Redditor came to the realization that many children’s movies are instilled with a motif that money doesn’t matter, nor is needed, to be happy.

And to the user, this unrealistic view of money is doing more harm than it is good. After all, money does make the world go round. But other users weren’t so willing to share their sentiments.

“Nobody is teaching children that,” says Reddit user TarvisBlast. “Stop teaching children that money is an uber concern.”

Honestly, we’re not so sure of either opinion. But what we can get behind is reasonably teaching children the value of money.

“The best way to apply toothpaste is directly into the mouth.” — captainsunchoke

“Why take the extra step of putting it on the toothbrush when it’s all going to end up in the same place? Cut out the middle man and squeeze some into your mouth,” the user continued to explain.

Even though this comment caused quite the stir, we have to admit that the Redditor did raise a convincing point. That said, you won’t catch us applying toothpaste directly onto our teeth anytime soon.

“I find ‘black’ eyes a lot more attractive than blue eyes.” — EvilChilaquil

Image credit: Unsplash | Jose Castillo
Unsplash | Jose Castillo

Who knew eye colors could create such an intense dispute on the internet? Well, this Reddit user assumably did as they posted their opinion that dark brown eyes are superior to lighter, blue eyes.

Plenty of fellow Redditors joined in on the debate and the comments were just as divisive as you’d imagine. Naturally, some agreed with the original poster, and others completely opposed it.

But that does make total sense. Beauty is, after all, in the eye of the beholder.

“Air fryers are one of the best inventions of the 21st century!” — Oclcl

Image credit: Flickr | Christina Greengrass
Flickr | Christina Greengrass

This opinion caught the attention of several other air fryer users who similarly rave about the product.

“Everyone who owns an Airfryer (me included) knows and preaches what an awesome machine it is. So so much better than a microwave,” adds Redditor Party_Divide_3491 under the thread.

But, of course, not everyone shares in the praise of the fryer.

“I disagree. It’s just a convection oven,” writes another user, who clearly doesn’t think the appliance tops the list of best 21st-century inventions. “Literally the reason I use mine is because it doubles as a toaster.”

“Birds are the best pets.” — UltraConstructor

Pets can often be a sensitive topic, so it was a no-brainer that the thread under this comment would be the most torn.

While agreements on both sides were nothing short of convincing, our favorite comment doesn’t actually pick a side. Instead, it provided the comic relief that was really needed.

“So, you work for the feds too?” writes Redditor H00L0GXNS, referring to the online TikTok meme that all birds work for the bourgeoisie after being killed by President Reagan in 1986 and replaced with spies.

“Sweatpants should be appropriate office wear.” — magicalgirlgraveyard

Image credit: Pexels | Ivan Samkov
Pexels | Ivan Samkov

Wearing comfy clothes while you sit at a desk or teach at the front of a class seems like a no-brainer. But some Redditors are surprisingly not in favor of wearing sweats to work.

“No. You shouldn’t even consider leaving the house in them if you’re not exercising,” writes one user. Ouch, that’s a little harsh.

For us, we’re on the side of people wearing whatever makes them most comfortable, so be it a suit and tie or cozy sweatpants.

“Milk tea without boba and ice is better.” — KlawQuitFortnite

Image credit: Unsplash | Rosalind Chang
Unsplash | Rosalind Chang

Is milk tea even milk tea without chewy tapioca balls chilling at the bottom? Apparently, it is.

Several Redditors do agree that the bubble tea is better without its boba counterpart. * Gasp *

The comment section may not have been divisive, but we’re definitely on the opposite side!

“Going inside to order food is better than ordering at the drive thru.” — groozlyy

“As an introvert who gets anxious pretty easily, I find walking inside the building to order food easier than ordering at the drive thru,” the Redditor explains.

They also shared their belief that ordering inside a fast food restaurant results in a shorter wait time for receiving their meal. And as you can imagine, this caused those in support of drive-thrus to go off under the thread.

“It is objectively faster to get food in the drive through,” shares Redditor randell1985.

Honestly, we can see both points.

“Being fiction doesn’t excuse a piece of media from having plot-holes and inconsistencies.” — Randromeda2172

Image credit: Unsplash | Annie Spratt
Unsplash | Annie Spratt

Understandably, this opinion received both support and disdain. But we think Redditor PompousRooster summed the debate up most effectively.

“Breaking the rules breaks immersion,” they write. “A plot hole in the narrative is fine as long as it doesn’t break immersion. Example: basically everything in Harry Potter.”

“I am sick of every house having every room be gray and every kitchen have subway tiles. Come on, decorating shows!” — WINTERSONG1111

Image credit: Unsplash | Sidekix Media
Unsplash | Sidekix Media

This Redditor does have a compelling point. Most modern homes do stick to a very neutral palette of whites, beiges, and greys. And more so, their designs are based on popular trends that can sustain the test of time — like the subway tile.

“It’s not a big surprise, it’s the most neutral design that appeals to the most buyers,” Reddit user FizzyBeverage added under the thread.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!

“The best way to eat a slice of pizza is rolled up, crust first.” — DouggPound

Yeah, we’re just as perplexed by this pizza-eating opinion that sounds more like a horrid confession than an unpopular view. But (un)fortunately, the user continued their explanation.

“You start by rolling a slice of pizza crust-first into itself, until the tip wraps around your brand new pizzarito,” the user wrote. “Each bite becomes a perfectly rationed spiral of decadence as you create pizzushi in your own mouth at whim.”

We’re not sure about you, but this sounds like a pizza crime to us.

“Ketchup is the best condiment to put on scrambled eggs.” — Sweet_Stick9596

Image credit: Flickr | Jamin Gray
Flickr | Jamin Gray

Surprisingly, the major dispute of this post wasn’t actually about the preference of putting a condiment on cooked eggs. In fact, that was agreed upon. It was, instead, just about the ketchup.

Some people agreed with its use on eggs, while others preferred different toppings, like barbecue sauce, salsa, teriyaki sauce, and even ranch.

Okay, the last one is making us feel a little queasy.

“I enjoy eating strawberries with ketchup, that is all.” — Rice_Jap808

Image credit: Diary of a Mad Hausfrau | Lora Wiley-Lennartz
Diary of a Mad Hausfrau | Lora Wiley-Lennartz

You needed to do a double-take after reading that comment, didn’t you? Yeah, so did we — along with the majority of Reddit who was just as stunned.

The original poster explains that they’re not sure why they enjoy the combination, but they assume it’s the mixture of salty and sweet that keeps them dipping the strawberry back in bite after bite.

“I’m not offended, I’m just confused,” writes Redditor Candycoatedmuffin2. And we completely agree.

Well…maybe we’re a little bit offended. But the majority is absolute confusion.

“It’s perfectly valid that women named Karen are pissed about their name being used as an insult.” — Lunchism

Image credit: Pexels | Andrea Piacquadio
Pexels | Andrea Piacquadio

“And they’re not “being a Karen” if they complain about it or ask you to stop,” the user went on the say.

And unexpectedly, the majority of the thread was quick to come to the user’s support. They too think the insult is unfair, has clear undertones of misogyny and ageism, and is often taken out of context.

“A lot of people have lost the actual meaning of it too, and just apply it to people they disagree with,” says Redditor AltienHolyscar, who raises a very valid point.

“Putting a chocolate chip cookie on a burger is superior.” — jacktorres18

There’s only one being we can think of that would enjoy a chocolate chip cookie on a beef burger — and you’re looking right at him.

So either this Redditor is Cookie Monster in disguise or they’re an actual human who needs to get their taste buds checked out. Sure, sweet and salty is a tasty combination but this horrid creation should be a felony — and were not the only ones to think so.

“You must be Gordon Ramsay’s sleep paralysis demon,” adds Redditor chickenparmi-, and we see no lies in the statement.
