Anyone who’s ever owned a car knows that it’s a machine that teaches you how to be responsible.
In order for the car to run smoothly, you need to take care of it. And that means an occasional trip to the mechanic . It all adds up, so it’s no wonder why some people think they can just DIY it. Well, don’t, and here’s why.
1. This Engine Mishap
Note to self — never leave a rag inside of the engine bay. If you ever attempt to work on your own car, don’t make the mistake this person did. I guess it must’ve sparked some kind of electrical fire.
2. This Clever Use Of Zip Ties
Contrary to popular belief, you can’t use zip ties for everything. One such thing is a car. I don’t think this sway bar mount is going to suffice here. When this snaps, it won’t be too much fun.
3. This Interesting Strategy
When the “check the engine” light comes on, what do you do? You go to the mechanic, right? Well, this person just put a sticker over it so it will stop annoying them. Not my kind of strategy, but alright.
4. This Sad State Of Affairs
I know what getting new tires is a costly endeavor. However, when your tires get to this state, you absolutely have to look inside your pocketbook. Either that or get off the road ASAP.
5. This Welding Job
Welding is a special skill. Don’t you know that? This guy thought he could weld these studs back on himself. Well, let’s just say he failed miserably at that. Just leave the job to the professionals, okay?
6. This Oil Change Bandit
Ladies and gentlemen, this is what happens when you don’t believe in oil changes. I’m surprised this car is even still running, ha, ha! Do yourself a favor and next time just listen to the mechanic.
7. This Handy Tool
Who knew that a fork could have so many uses, huh? I, mean somebody actually used it for a hood latch release. I would never have thought of that, but if it works, it works. Am I right?
8. This Clever Solution
At first glance, I had no idea what was even going on here. Now upon further inspection, I get it. This person came up with the least attractive-looking phone mount I’ve ever seen, and I don’t know why. Just buy one online!
9. This Stubborn One
If your mechanic pulled this out of your car what would you do? This person just told him to put it back. I guess they have more important stuff to spend their money on rather than their car.
10. This Clever Fix
When your speedometer cover won’t stay on, there has to be a solution to it, right? Well, there you go. How do you like this one? I don’t know anything about cars, so I’ll take their word for it, ha, ha!
11. This AC Solution
When the AC in your car breaks down, sometimes you need to improvise. I’ve been there. We once drove to African Lion Safari without one, and let’s just say it was quite the adventure, ha, ha!
12. This Odd Surprise
Oh, no! What the heck is that pouring out? Well, I bet you guessed —it’s antifreeze. It’s just odd to see it pour out of a hole like this one. Clearly, whoever did this shouldn’t be working on their car.
13. This Tire Install
Somebody actually rolled into a shop on a tire filled with water in sub-zero temperatures. The poor mechanic had to cut the sidewall out with a Leatherman to get the tire off the wheel after breaking the ice with a sledgehammer. Wow!
14. This Quick Fix
I have to say this is some MacGyver type of s*** here. But I actually think this one might hold up for quite long. I’m not a professional, so don’t quote me on it. I’m just taking an educated guess, ha, ha!
15. This Exhaust Pipe Job
“Darling, the exhaust pipe came off!” “Say no more dear, I’m right on it.”

Even though I don’t know much about cars, I can see these jobs weren’t done right.
