I’ve seen a lot of strange fashion and beauty trends in my life but this one might just take the cake.
Now people have been doing all kinds of things with their nails lately.
Nail salons have practically gone into a “how strange can you get” contest and have done all kinds of mind-blowing manicures for the ‘gram.
From corkscrew shaped nails to nails with plastic baby hands attached to them, we’ve seen it all.
Or so we thought.
A nail salon in Melbourne, Australia has become famous for doing “deadly manicures” that include dead critters.
No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. Those are definitely dead ladybugs just chilling on that woman’s fingernail.
The salon is called “Deadly Nail Salon” because of course.
Nicole Casti is the owner of the salon and the brains behind the extreme nail trend.
She’s been in the business for more than 11 years and it shows. Her nail artwork is crazy impressive!
Nicole first got the idea to do deadly nails from her children and love of taxidermy.
When Nicole’s kids brought her a dead butterfly one day, the idea was born and the rest was history.
In an interview with The Daily Mail , she said, “I’ve always been fascinated with taxidermy. I find beauty in death.”

Her deadly manicures include everything from mosquitoes to butterflies.
She’s also included even deadlier insects in her nail art like scorpions and big hairy spiders.
The process involves sanitizing the insects, glueing them onto the nail and then covering them in acrylic so they don’t decompose.
It doesn’t stop there though. She uses animals parts too.
In addition to using snakeskin, which is pretty on-trend right now, Nicole has also used bird skulls, a lizard carcass, a seashorse and even a pig’s tooth in her nail designs.
You can rest assured though that no bugs or animals were harmed in the making of these nails.
Nicole told Daily Mail Australia that she only uses donated carcasses from licensed taxidermists for her work.
But if animals and bugs on your nails just isn’t your thing, there are other unique options to choose from.
Since starting the deadly nails trend, Nicole has experimented with all kinds of unusual materials.

Personally, I would be terrified to even be in the same room as these insects, much less have their dead carcass trapped in my nails.
