In a twist that sounds almost unbelievable, author Nancy Brophy is currently on trial for the murder of her husband, chef Daniel Brophy. Nancy, best known for her self-published romance novels, once penned an essay titled “How To Murder Your Husband” back in 2011.
Now, the 71-year-old Oregon resident is the main suspect in a high-profile murder case that has been spreading like wildfire over the internet.
Nancy Brophy’s husband Daniel was fatally shot in the back and chest on June 2, 2018, in Oregon, as reported by the Associated Press.
Daniel’s wife and author of the 2011 essay “How to Murder Your Husband” was charged with her husband’s murder three months after his death.
The trial began earlier this week and revealed Nancy’s eyebrow-raising essay would not be used as evidence against her.
“Any minimal probative value of an article written that long ago is substantially outweighed by the danger of unfair prejudice and confusion of the issues,” the judge said, as per CBS .
Authorities are alleging that the self-published author killed her husband in order to get a $1.4-million payout from his life insurance.
At the time of her husband’s murder, Nancy took to Facebook to share a message to friends and family.

“My husband and best friend, Chef Dan Brophy was killed yesterday morning,” she explained at the time.
“For those of you who are close to me and feel this deserved a phone call, you are right, but I’m struggling to make sense of everything right now.”
“While I appreciate all of your loving responses, I am overwhelmed. Please save phone calls for a few days until I can function.”
Nancy is determined to prove her innocence and will be doing everything in her power no matter how controversial.
The 71-year-old author will be taking the stand and telling her story, as reported by FOX 12 Oregon.
