Without a doubt, Mrs. Doubtfire was one of the best films of our childhood.
This film, starring the late and great Robin Williams , provided lots of laughs, great characters, and a heartwarming story that’s still touching to this day.

Unfortunately, there were a few blunders as well. There’s a surefire chance that fans didn’t catch these mistakes on the first (or even 20th) watch.
Mrs. Doubtfire’s accent
The nanny in the film was based on the portrait of an older English woman.
“She had an incredibly sweet face, pretty, prim, very popular and extremely warm,” director Chris Columbus once said . But in the film, she sounds more Scottish.
Stu’s hairy chest
If there’s one thing actor Pierce Brosnan is known for, it’s his abundance of chest hair.
Yet, this fact was overlooked by the film when choosing diving stunt doubles for Brosnan’s pool scene. Suddenly, the chest hair was gone.
The bikini-clad women
The family was seeing double when they headed to the pool to meet Miranda’s boyfriend Stu.
That’s because viewers saw the same two bikini-clad women cross in front of the gate multiple times, always going in the same direction.
The white specks
When Mr. Lundy is drinking with Daniel in the restaurant, he is wearing a black suit.
Yet, white specks appear and disappear on the suit between shots. How did it change like that?
The piano
For a professional decorator, Miranda surprisingly didn’t know her stuff. When she was at Stuart’s B&B, she recommended a “17th Century grand piano.” But the piano wasn’t invented until the late 19th Century.
The reflection
There was a camera slip-up during the scene where Stu is talking to his friend in the bar at the pool. If you look closely, you can see the reflection of the camera in the vase behind them.
The lime
There was a case of a disappearing lime in the film! It all started when Mrs. Doubtfire threw a lime at Stu and it hit him in the head.
But when the shot cuts back to Mrs. Doubtfire, the same lime is clearly at the top of the fruit dish.
The cigarette smoke
While dinosaurs scream kids, cigarettes do not. Yet, the latter made its way into the film, anyway!
During Daniel’s scene of playing with the dinosaurs, cigarette smoke blows into the shot from a crew member off camera.
The teacup
There was a lot going on during the scene where the inspector visits Mrs. Doubtfire’s home.
The amount of tea in the inspector’s cup changes after the iconic scene of melting icing falling off Mrs. Doubtfire’s face and into the cup.
The robe
As iconic as the face cream scene was, it had quite a few mistakes. In addition to the teacup, Mrs. Doubtfire’s robe changes from being done all the way up to being loose.
The pepper
Remember when Daniel added all sorts of hot peppers to Stu’s dinner in the restaurant?
This was a factual error, as it’s highly unlikely that one of the many restaurant workers wouldn’t have caught him. There is, however, a deleted scene where this does happen.
The fake breasts
Who could forget the scene when Mrs. Doubtfire is cooking in the kitchen and accidentally sets her fake breasts on fire?
Well, some of this movie’s magic was erased when you can see the camera crew in the reflection of one of the pan lids.
Stu’s allergy
Speaking of the pepper on Stu’s dish, he mentioned that he was allergic to pepper. Yet, his reaction of choking didn’t make sense. Someone with an actual reaction would’ve been on the floor in pain.
Stu’s hairline
Stu’s hairy chest wasn’t the only mistake on him. During the scene of his dive in the pool, you can clearly see that Pierce Brosnan’s hairline changes after his hairstylist intervened.
The bubbles
Daniel worked super hard to change accents and convince Miranda that there are horrible babysitters out there.
Yet, the film crew didn’t work hard enough to ensure Daniel’s bubbles in the bubble bath didn’t constantly change from shot to shot.
The audio dub
The final court case scene at the end of the film was a tense one.
It was also an audio mistake, as shown when Miranda’s lawyer turned to her and said, “Congratulations.'” You can see that she didn’t actually move her mouth.
The hair length
After Daniel’s children discover that Mrs. Doubtfire is really their father, Lydia’s hair is long and in front of her right shoulder.
But when she says, “It’s really you in there,” the hair is suddenly behind her shoulder.
The shrimp
Remember when Stu choked from a shrimp and Daniel had to save him with the Heimlich maneuver?
Well, when the shrimp is coughed out, it’s whole and unchewed. This didn’t make sense since we saw Stu chew on it.
The stunt double
The goal of a stunt double is to look the part of the actor while completing dangerous scenes.
Yet, when Mrs. Doubtfire sets herself on fire and is fighting the flames, you can obviously see that it’s her stunt double as her face is longer.
