New things constantly pop up on social media, and once kids get ahold of it, it spreads like wildfire . However popular they may be, some of these trends tend to be dangerous and almost life-threatening for some people who try them.
The latest trend on social media has to do with fake piercings.
Now, a lot of pf people can’t go get piercings either due to their age, household rules, or sometimes even allergies. So you can imagine that a fake piercing trend might seem super enticing to that person.

Fake piercings have become increasingly popular all over social media, as people can modify their looks without having to go under the needle and do anything that can be painful or even permanent.
However, some of the fake piercing trends are not safe at all.
One of the latest fake piercing trends happens to involve magnets. While it may “look cool,” parents are not discussing how dangerous it can be to children and their health.
33-year-old mom Kelly Sheldon shared that her 14-year-old daughter was in danger after trying the latest fake piercing trend from TikTok.
The mom shared that the trend involves two magnetic balls that link together to create a fake piercing. Her daughter was using the two balls on the top and bottom of her tongue to look like a fake tongue ring.
Her daughter, however, forgot to take the balls out before drinking water.
The mom shared that her daughter accidentally swallowed both magnet balls because she had forgotten they were in her mouth when she took a drink of water. Her daughter was hospitalized following the grave mistake.
X-rays showed that the balls had fused together inside the teen’s body.
With the two balls fused together, doctors are hopeful that Kelly’s daughter will pass the magnets naturally. However, there is the possibility that if they drift, it can be life-threatening.
The magnets can hurt the organs, badly.
“If the two balls separated, and one travels further than the other but finds a connection again while it’s away, it could pull the organs together and squish them. And that could easily pierce the intestine or cause a blockage. It’s very frightening,” Sheldon explained to Yahoo! News .
Kelly is now joining the many parents online who are trying to ban the small magnets from young children.
“I don’t think any child of any age should have a magnet. I don’t think there’s any reason for them, I just think it’s a bad idea full stop,” the mom shared .
According to doctors on TikTok, the trend is truly not great for young kids.
Doctors on TikTok have been issuing a warning to parents and other social media users that the trend is one that can absolutely hurt you, and even kill you.
Dr. Karan Raj shared that the magnet balls used for this trend can “clump together quickly.”
Depending on how many are swallowed (accidentally), the magnets are always drifting closer to each other. Inside our bodies, if those magnets are trying to connect, they can pierce through organs or even cause internal bleeding.
They can also cause blockages that require surgery.
Having the magnets inside of us can also lead to intestinal blockages that can only be solved and fixed through bowel surgery. So, in the end, the magnets are more trouble than they are worth.
