Sir Anthony Hopkins joined in on mocking Kim Kardashian’s latest beauty product: the $48 SKIMS face wrap.
People had already been joking that the wrap looked like something Lecter would wear. Now Hopkins just made it official in a viral Instagram reel.
Kim Kardashian launches a controversial face wrap
SKIMS just launched the Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap in two shades: “clay” and “cocoa.” It’s being sold as a beauty tool that lifts and tightens the jaw and neck.
The brand says it uses compressive fabric with “collagen yarns” and Velcro straps to sculpt the face as part of a nightly routine.
Experts say the wrap offers no real benefits

Dermatologists and surgeons aren’t convinced. They say it’s just a soft compression wrap and not much more than that.
These kinds of wraps are sometimes used after surgery to reduce swelling, but there’s no proof they help if you use them at home casually.
And claims about collagen yarns boosting skin collagen? Still unproven.
Plastic surgeon says results are impossible

Dr. Anil Shah, a facial plastic surgeon in New York and Chicago, told the New York Post it doesn’t work.
“It’s really not going to make any long-term structural changes of any kind,” he said.
He explained that real results come from fat redistribution or muscle tightening, which this wrap can’t do.
“Don’t waste your money on this one,” he said. “I understand how shapewear can make you look good with clothes on, but sleeping with this is not going to have any effect.”
Anthony channeled his inner Hannibal in an Instagram video

Wearing the wrap, Anthony said his Hannibal Lecter voice, “Hello Kim, I’m already feeling 10 years younger. Goodbye,” followed by that familiar slurping sound from The Silence of the Lambs.
“Thank you, Kim. Don’t be afraid to come over for dinner.”
The product sales skyrocketed
People online started calling it things like a “medieval device” and the “Lecter face wrap.”
Before Kim even responded, the product sold out on the SKIMS website in just 24 hours.
Even with people saying it looked more like a hostage mask than skincare, the sales still took off.
Kim had a priceless reaction

Reposting the clip on her Instagram story, Kim wrote, “I’M SCREAMING!!!!!” Classic Kim.
Critics say it sends the wrong message to young women
Some online comments pointed out how this could affect younger girls.
“There’s a 16-year-old girl out there thinking she needs to buy this cr*p,” one person wrote.
Another said, “SKIMS—making women feel bad about themselves since 2018.”
Kim Kardashian defends the product
SKIMS called the wrap a “must-have addition to women’s nightly routine.”
Kim backed it too. “It snatches your little chinny chin chin. It’s super comfortable to wear at night or just around the house,” she said on social media.
Beauty professionals respond with skepticism

Skincare expert Caroline Hirons dismissed it as an “April Fools joke.”
Plastic surgeon Akash Chandawarkar had a different take. He thought it could be useful for people recovering from procedures.
“It seems perfect for after facelift, necklift, or submental lipo,” he said.
Influencers say this reflects a bigger industry problem

Some beauty creators say this product shows how far the industry is pushing unrealistic standards.
TikToker Jamie Janejira put it simply: “What if your face doesn’t need to be snatched and lifted? What if there are infinite numbers of types of beauty? What makes us beautiful is that we don’t all look the same.”
