While Ryan Reynolds is caught up in a series of lawsuits between his wife Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, claims about his behavior have been resurfacing on social media.
In a resurfaced 2022 interview with TJ Miller on the Adam Carolla Show, the comedian claimed that Reynolds was “horrifically mean” on the set of Deadpool. However, Miller also stated he has no ill will towards the fellow actor.
The comments came with the lawsuits
The reemergence of comments against Ryan Reynolds comes with the current state of lawsuits between his wife Blake Lively and her co-star and director of It Ends With Us, Justin Baldoni.
Lively had filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and his production company, accusing him of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
Baldoni responded with a lawsuit
Refuting the accusations, Baldoni responded by filing a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds and Lively’s publicist Leslie Soane.
In the counter-lawsuit, Baldoni claimed that the three were attempting to defame him after his movie It Ends With Us became a hit.
Miller’s comment on Reynolds
In Deadpool, Miller plays Reynold’s close friend, Weasel, who runs a bar for mercenaries in the movie.
In the resurfaced interview from his time on the Adam Carolla Show, Miller says he had felt tension between him and Reynolds on set.
He felt Reynolds was rude to him
“As the character, he was, like, horrifically mean to me,” Miller claimed of Reynolds, before adding, “But to me. As if I’m Weasel.”
Miller also pointed out that he had felt as though Reynolds was giving negative comments to him personally rather than to his character.
Miller recalled the situation
“He was like, ‘You know what’s great about you, Weasel? You’re not the star, but you do just enough exposition that it’s funny and then we can leave and get back to the real movie’,” the Big Hero 6 comedian added.
The comedian felt Reynolds was “insecure”
The comedian said he “kind of listened and thought it was weird” before the director called cut and he could walk away.
He claimed that Reynolds had spoken to him like this out of insecurity, but wasn’t sure why he would be insecure about his comedic abilities.
Miller doesn’t think he’s funnier
Miller admitted that he finds Reynolds to be a better comedian than him.
“That’s exactly why he said that,” he said, claiming Reynolds was insecure, “Because I’m not funnier than he is at all, right? And I haven’t been in more movies than him,” he added.
He spoke about Reynold’s acting
“He’s such a good comedian that, when you cover his face, he’s so quick, he’s so funny. I love him as a comedian, but I think after he got super, super famous from the first Deadpool, then things kinda changed. I think he was like, ‘See? You guys see?’,” Miller said.
Miller has no ill will against Reynolds
Although he had felt that Reynolds gave him a mean comment, Miller also said in the interview that he has no ill will against the Deadpool actor.
“Would I work with him again? No. I would not work with him again,” he said, before adding, “I sorta wish him well, because he’s so good at Deadpool, and I think it’s weird that he hates me.”
He doesn’t think Reynolds likes him
At the time, there were only two Deadpool movies out. Miller said, “I don’t wish them any ill will. I think [Ryan] should make a Deadpool 3 and continue to make movies. I just think he doesn’t like me, and I thought it was weird how he expressed that.”
The third movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, hit the cinemas in July of 2024, and in fact didn’t include TJ Miller in the cast.
