The world is full of rules and regulations that are designed to keep people safe. People may have the best of intentions when they design these rules, but people can be awfully dumb when it comes to following them.
If you’ve ever worked in an unsafe environment, some of these pics are likely to bring you right back.
“You tried.”
I like how this heavy pallet almost conforms to the “do not store above the red line” decree. I mean, it doesn’t go over the line, exactly, it really just kind of bumps into it and pushes it upward.
“How my master rigger sent our lunch up today.”
On the positive side, it looks like the heavy load is properly secured. The lunch on top of it, on the other hand, might wind up falling on the head of an unsuspecting pedestrian or driver.
“There is no possibility of electrical shock here!”
I don’t know much about electricity, but I do know that you’re really not supposed to combine anything that could give you a shock with anything that’s wet. Maybe these folks will learn that the hard way.
“Safe to say it’s pretty cold here at the moment. It’s common for the workers to be transported home in this fashion but never with a fire before.”
It’s kind of like building a fire in a trash can to stay warm, only a million times more dangerous.
“There’s just so many things wrong here.”
While the rest of us are freaking out about the lack of goggles or any kind of protective equipment, these amateur welders don’t seem that perturbed by the situation that they’ve created here.
“Nothing wrong here?”
It’s possible to load a bunch of stuff into your vehicle and think it’ll be fine. Then, when you actually hit the road and start driving, it clearly isn’t fine. I think this is one of those situations.
“Fixer upper.”
I’m a simple kind of guy. Put me in situations where a car isn’t likely to fall on my head, crushing me to death, and I’m happy. I guess this guy sees the world a little bit differently.
“Found in a group called ‘Stairs Designed by People who aren’t afraid to Die.'”
I don’t know what social media OP found that group in, but I’d say it’s a pretty apt name.
“Don’t worry, propane is stored in the shed too.”
To be fair, the sign prohibits smoking. It doesn’t say anything about firing up the grill and enjoying a few tasty burgers. Maybe this one will turn out alright. Maybe.
“Fixed my broken rainwater drain.”
I know that duct tape can perform miracles, but there are some DIY jobs it isn’t suited for. I don’t have a lot of confidence that this solution is likely to work in the long run.
“Who needs a scaffold when you have a rope ladder?”
Anyone who’s climbed a rope ladder knows that they can be kind of precarious. This worker knows that, and he simply doesn’t care. Let’s all hope for his safe return.

Here’s a new one: filling a massive pothole not with asphalt but with, uh, discarded oyster shells. This is what happens when restaurant dumpsters and road work crews combine forces to do something really, really strange.

Speaking of pulling out onto the highway when you really ought not to pull out onto the highway, get a load of this guy. It looks like he’s hanging on for dear life.

This is an age-old dilemma: protect yourself from the risk of a deadly fire, or get a little more juice into your phone so you can fit in another round or two of Candy Crush.
“Advert I bumped on today.. ‘Professionals’ but jeans and casual shoes, no harness, and stretching the hose.”
Credit to the person who posted this, because I’m not sure if I would have noticed any of those violations. A lot of stuff can go wrong when you’re standing on a roof.

I know some folks say “if it looks stupid and it works, it ain’t stupid.” I want to know what they say when something looks both stupid and dangerous. Good luck to this guy.

Was this intentional or not? If it’s intentional, this guy needs to realize that beard trimmers exist. If it’s unintentional, I wonder why he allowed his beard to get so close to something that would rip it out.
“Ain’t nobody getting outta here alive.”
You should never block an emergency exit door in any scenario. This door isn’t just a little bit blocked, it’s basically barricaded from the other side. It’s all good, at least until there’s a fire.
“No wheel? No problem!”
This looks like the kind of fix that holds true for about five minutes before it fails in a spectacular manner. Just, like, call AAA or the shop and get a proper wheel, guys. This isn’t worth it.
