When we’re getting ready to leave a job , we’re generally advised to give two weeks of notice before officially resigning and trying to keep things as amicable with our bosses as possible.
Because even if we hate them and the job in general, this approach tends to cause us the fewest problems down the line when we’re moving on to the next stage of our lives. But of course, not everyone who plans on quitting that way will find that they can bring themselves to do it.
Whether they found themselves on a particularly bad day or their dealings with management simply overwhelm them, we can find that people will sometimes “rage quit” and storm out of a job with no intention of ever setting foot back on the property.
As she shared with her TikTok followers, that’s the approach that one young woman took but people aren’t sure what to think after she found herself in a dispute with her former manager after the fact.

Although TikTok user @olivetrizzle didn’t get specific about why she quit her job at a Dallas tanning salon, she described feeling “miserable” there.
And by the time she posted her TikTok in which she quit and closed the salon while nobody else was there, she had experienced long-standing problems with management and felt taken advantage of.
So as we can see in her video, she put up a sign telling customers that the salon was closed for “maintenance” before locking the door and turning off the lights.
Although she seemed to have a moment where she was questioning her decision in the video, she ultimately seemed satisfied by the way she quit.
That is, until she received a text from her former manager.
As she hadn’t returned the key to the store within 24 hours of quitting, her manager threatened to deduct $300 from her last paycheck.
She outlined this in a follow-up TikTok in which she was told that the police would be called if she set foot on the premises.
In yet another follow-up , she said she offered to mail the key back and insisted that the manager couldn’t just deduct money from her paycheck other than through civil legal action.
Her conversation with this manager is shown in greater detail in the TikTok you see here, but @olivetrizzle had also received scores of comments while this drama was unfolding.
And while some found the way she quit her job cathartic and satisfying, others took issue with the fact that she quit and closed the store mid-shift while complaining about her workplace on social media.

They thought it would cause problems with her future employers and some personally attested that they wouldn’t hire her after seeing her video.
However, some others who were more sympathetic said that it’s likely she signed a contract stating that as a key holder, the business was allowed to deduct $300 from her last check if she didn’t return the key within 24 hours of quitting.
And yet, it doesn’t seem that this is how her situation ended.
She said she never signed any such contract, which might explain why she received a separate message in her final update stating that no deductions would take place.
So whether you think the manager was justified in his actions or not, it’s clear that someone else at the executive level disagreed.
