In relationships, many people have rules and boundaries that they establish with each other early on. Some of these work for some couples, but don’t work for other couples.
And, then, there are some who believe in no rules at all, that love should come easily and not with restrictions. Whatever the case may be, every relationship is totally different with two different people.
When it comes to marriage, many couples have “boundaries” with each other.
Some husbands and wives share that they have specific rules for their significant other that they want to have them follow.
Some of these have to do with respecting each other’s space and boundaries, and that they show faithfulness and trust.
One TikTok user, Bailey, who shares parenting and marriage advice often, shared some rules she has for her own marriage.
The mom prefaced the video that the rules that she and her husband have in their marriage oftentimes make people “angry.”
And, that not everyone truly understands their boundaries and why they have these rules together.
The major rule she has, to some, may seem a bit too harsh.
Bailey starts off by saying that in their marriage, neither she nor her husband has friends of the opposite sex.
This seems like a lot, but it seems to be something of value and importance to this couple.

She also said you can’t have “work spouses.”
Some people work with members of the opposite sex and form close relationships with them, hence the terms “work-wife,” or “work-husband.” However, Bailey says that’s a “no go” in their marriage.
Also, you cannot be “alone” with a member of the opposite sex.
They also have rules for texting.
Bailey says that she and her husband are also not allowed to text members of the opposite sex in secret or behind each other’s back.
She says that “many people get angry” about the rules and don’t understand them.
In another video, Bailey elaborates more on these “rules” they have as a couple.
Some TikTok commenters said that the rules are making it so that both Bailey and her husband “lose out on potential great friendships” because of their rules.
Bailey explained that it’s not the case at all that they lose out.
The wife explained that neither of them “need” companionship outside of their marriage.
Bailey explained in a video later on that neither she nor her husband really “need” companionship outside of their marriage at all.
They get everything they want and everything they need from each other.
She said that if you do need that, there’s something missing.
She also explained that if you need to go outside of your marriage to get companionship from someone else and someone of the opposite sex, that it’s a problem and a huge red flag.
You should be satisfied with your partner.
She also said that the rules are not literal.
She explained that the rules of no “opposite-sex friendships” really means that they’re not seeking out new friendships to have.
If they already had friends, they keep those friendships within their boundaries such as letting each other know if they text or if they do see them, to bring the spouse along.
In addition, she feels it’s a red flag if you don’t respect each other’s boundaries.
The mom and wife said that while many TikTok users commented saying that “her rules are huge red flags,” she feels that not respecting each other’s rules and boundaries are even bigger red flags in a relationship and a marriage.
She also shared that she doesn’t “expect people to understand.”
Bailey explained, as well, that she doesn’t “expect” people to understand, especially “non-Christians,” as she and her husband are Christian.
But, she also could never be with someone who doesn’t respect these rules and boundaries that they have.
