Sometimes, you may spot an image and thing there’s nothing out of the ordinary going on in it, but if you look a little closer, you could see things that you would’ve missed the first time. And those kinds of images are always so cool.
Here are some pretty amazing photos that have those hard to spot moments in them. You might find yourself doing double- and triple-takes.
“The inside of my tree looks fake.”
It’s kind of funny how this tree looks a bit fake under the surface. But nope, it’s a hundred percent real. It’s just a birch tree, and their bark peels quite often. I have to say, though, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a birch tree with such smooth bark underneath.
“This piece of foil I found on the street that looks like a samurai warrior.”
This is kind of like finding random shapes in clouds. I do have to wonder if this is just a crazy coincidence, or if someone intentionally folded a hunk of tin foil to look like a samurai. Either way, it’s definitely a cool, yet random, find.

I’ll give you a second to try and find the cat in this image (and yes, there’s a cat in there somewhere). If you’ve given up, it’s taking a nap near the top of the center wood pile. And it’s doing a pretty good job of blending in, too.
“Looks like his legs are in the cart.”
It’s amazing what kind of weird things you can find in a Home Depot parking lot. For instance, this guy looks like he’s riding inside of the cart, but it’s really just two rugs. I wonder if he knew that those rugs look like legs from afar…
“Tiny wasps nest on the bottom of a traffic light.”
How do people even think to find things like these? I don’t think I’d ever notice a wasps’ nest growing out of a traffic light unless I went out and specifically looked for that kind of thing.
So whoever not only found this, but took a picture or if, is definitely impressive.
“The way I accidentally cut the skin of this avocado seed.”
For a split second, I thought I was looking at two halves of an avocado that each had their own pit in them. But no, the pit isn’t even in either side.
Somehow, the person who cut this avocado managed to peel the skin off the pit. It creates kind of a cool optical illusion.
“This chip out of a concrete floor looks like a fried egg.”
From a distance, it really does look like there’s a fried egg just chilling on some random concrete. But upon further inspection, you can see that it’s either some kind of stain, or possibly something that someone drew or painted on there.
Either way, it’s still kind of cool.
“These wrinkle patterns in otherwise normal blades of grass.”
Looks like normal grass, right? Well, it mostly is, except for the random little ripple effects on some of the blades. I have no idea what caused that to happen, or if it’s even a common occurrence.
The only thing I do know is that it’s actually really cool. Nature always impresses.
“My veterinary office that has paw prints on their ceiling tiles.”
I bet you anything this vet office has a bunch of patients (the owners, not the pets) that have never noticed the paw print designs on the ceiling. It’s the kind of thing that could go unnoticed for years. Either that, or it’s the first thing you notice when you walk in.
“Capitalization error on road sign.”
This is the kind of thing that you may not notice at first, but when you do, you won’t be able to stop thinking about it. It’ll bother you all day; thoughts of it will haunt you at night.
You’ll probably have nightmares about the typo on that one random road sign you passed by once.
“One of our local libraries moved into an old Marsh Supermarket.”
This is definitely a really cool way to reuse an old space. Honestly, though, if you don’t notice the books right away, you may just assume this is a supermarket. But when you start paying attention to the aisles full of books, it kind of gives itself away.
“Unbelievable Camouflage – Vietnam.”
I imagine this kind of ground cover would be useful during the Vietnam War. It looks like it would be camouflaged really easily when the top is on.
Nowadays, though, it’s just an unused hole in the ground. Still cool, though. You could probably hide in one of those and give a friend or loved one the fright of their life.
“Dog in a boat.”
What an absolutely breathtaking view! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like it. And if you aren’t paying enough attention, you may actually miss the good boy sitting in the boat at the bottom of the image. Honestly, it just makes the whole thing a lot better.
“Undulatus asperatus clouds.”
What a regular looking cloudy evening. Well, regular except for the giant, rippling clouds going across the sky. Though my first instinct would probably be to hide in the basement, these clouds are actually really cool.
And they don’t look like they’re at any risk of turning into a storm, so it’s probably safe to keep looking.
“I would have used black marker, but okay… lol.”
From afar, the missing piece of this puzzle isn’t too noticeable (though, if I were the one putting it together, it would really bug me). It’s kind of funny how the piece was replaced with an image of the culprit who ate it, though filling it in with black marker or something would’ve probably worked better.

“I drew a dinosaur with colored pencils.”
If I didn’t know this was a drawing, I would think that it was a 3D statue of a chrome dinosaur. The fact that it was done entirely in colored pencils makes it so much cooler, though. That attention to detail is really something else. Just look at all the reflections!
“Needs a couple more bags of mulch.”
Looks like two totally normal benches, right? Well, you may have missed the fact that they’re both buried in a couple of feet of mulch.
I wonder what possessed the groundskeepers to put that much mulch around, especially since it kind of hinders anyone’s ability to sit on either seat.
The ISS transiting the sun.
I think it might be worth noting that these kinds of images are done with professional equipment (in other words, don’t just point a telescope at the sun and try to take a picture of it).
But still, how cool is this? That tiny shadow along the sun’s surface is the ISS, which just so happens to be passing in front of it.
“Nothin’ but net on this gutter ball.”
It took a while for me to even figure out what’s going on in this photo, but if you look just to the left of where the net is attached, there is a baseball.
So technically, this isn’t a “gutter” ball, but a foul.
“Really glad I bought this robot vacuum…”
I mean, the robot vacuum was probably doing just fine until it bumped the…bumper. Maybe it needs a piece of tape or something over the switch?
“My Coca-Cola bottlecap’s alphanumeric code was 69XP0RN.”
Is it a bit juvenile to giggle at this? Of course, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t funny.
Like, just the number 69 isn’t worth the lols, but when it’s right there beside P-zero-RN, we have to laugh.
“Went to take a picture of the rainbow and lightning struck at the same time!”
The additional detail of the Jesus bobble on the dashboard is just the icing on the cake.
I don’t think this is actually that uncommon, since storm clouds are so hard to predict and sometimes there’s a rainbow-worthy break even though the storm isn’t over.
“Arrow in a power cable.”
I bet this was a first for the technicians sent out to see why the power was out in this neighborhood.
What gets me is that apparently they wouldn’t have been surprised to find a bullet. It’s the arrow part they’re surprised by.
“This is a tomato that accidently [*sic*] grew inside of the fence.”
I bet there was a double-take when the gardener found this. Alas, I don’t think there’s any way to get that tomato out without smushing it in the process.
It would look so cool.
“The faulty sign still says the same thing.”
What a good sign! It’s dying, but it’s doing its best!
I have no idea if this was on purpose. It could be just a really convenient way the lights burnt out, but you know…I think I’d leave it for a while.
“This McDonald’s sign is missing the “M” arch.”
A McDonald’s sign is probably one of the most recognizable things in the world. Mostly because of that iconic golden arch, though.
So when it’s missing, like it is here, it just feels off in a way you may not be able to put your finger on.
“My Grandma died on my Grandpa’s birthday. My Grandpa died on my Grandma’s birthday.”
Wow. That’s such a sad, yet kind of romantic detail. Like, she decided she was ready and went to join him as a belated birthday present.
“Birthday cake I made for my dad matches our counter.”
I think this says more about the counter tops than the quality of the cake itself. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a German chocolate cake with coconut pecan frosting.
Except that I don’t have a slice of my own.
“Day 10 of Nobody Noticing the April Fool’s Prank.”
It probably says more about me than it does this person’s office, that my first thought was, “Maybe people noticed, but a sticker like that tracks with how management usually deals with problems.”
“Painted My Living Room on my Tee w/ textile paint.”
It looks like it took a long time for this person to perfectly capture his living room onto a shirt. But the fact that all the detail is there — the paintings, the plant, even the knickknacks on the coffee table — is just so cool.
Too bad the cat (pictured in the shirt) isn’t there.
