You won’t find Mayim Bialik’s kids watching The Big Bang Theory anytime soon.
The actress, known for her rather controversial parenting methods, has added “no TV” to the list of other strict parenting rules she enforces.

Parents definitely do not have it easy.
They have to make decisions that work best for them and their children, and when you’re a celebrity, your decisions are often scrutinized.
Mayim Bialik definitely knows how that feels.
Mayim Bialik’s parenting style has always been rather unconventional.
The Big Bang Theory alum is the mother to two boys: Miles, 15, and Frederick, 13. She had both with ex-husband, Michael Stone, who she was married to for nine years.
One thing Mayim has been doing since their birth is raising her kids using attachment parenting .
This is a scientific principle that encourages a lot of body closeness and always tending to children’s needs (you won’t find screaming children in her home for too long).
The actress and scientist (she’s a neuroscientist) believes in the subject so much that she even published a book on the subject!
It’s called: *Beyond the Sling: A Real-Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way*.
While the book certainly has merit, Mayim made a few waves with some of the things she encouraged.
This includes co-sleeping (sleeping in the same bed with your kids) and babywearing (carrying your baby close to you in a sling).
She most notably stirred up controversy with her reveal that she breastfed her son until he was four.
This is something that she views as a super mother-infant bonding moment.
Obviously, a lot of people had some opinions on this.
When she received criticism for her decision, she defended herself.
“The way that I parent is the way thousands of women parent all over the world, but I get flak for it,” she told The Huffington Post .
“People say really mean things!” she added.
Another parenting decision that’s bound to get people riled up is the fact that she doesn’t let her kids watch TV.
By default, this means that her kids haven’t seen The Big Bang Theory , aka the hit show she was on for nine seasons.
She played Amy Farrah Fowler, Sheldon Cooper’s love interest.
She appeared briefly in Season Three before becoming a part of the main cast in Season Four.
It’s fair to say that the show changed her life. She made lifelong friends and was making around $425,000 per episode in the show’s final season.
This show will obviously live with her forever.
But even though it was a major part of her life, she hasn’t changed her stance on letting her kids watch it.
She once wrote about it in an article for Kveller .
She said:
“I am committed to making shifts in ways that bring me closer to my kids and closer to a sense of peace with technology for me, for my kids, and for the sake of all our interactions, virtual and otherwise.”
In another Kveller article, she made her point very clear:
“We don’t let our kids watch TV. Not even Blossom or The Big Bang Theory.”
While a lot of this has to do with her strict parenting methods, she has admitted to simply not being a “TV-watching family.”
Movies, for instance, are given the green light.
She said so on Us Weekly’s “Watch With Us” podcast that her kids have seen Avatar .
When she admitted that her kids have seen their mom in her new show, Call Me Kat , she blamed her ex-husband for that.
“It was actually my ex-husband, [Michael Stone], that watched the show with them,” she said.
She then explained some personal reasons as to why she refrains from watching her shows with her kids.
“I don’t watch myself and really didn’t want to hear them be like, ‘You look weird. Why is your hair like [that]?’”
“I don’t want to deal with it,” she added.
Fair enough!
As for The Big Bang Theory , both Bialik and Stone agreed that it’s off the table for now.
“A lot of the content is stuff that I’m not ready to get into them with yet,” Bialik told Metro in 2019.
