Game shows have become a part of our history. They’re the beta product of reality tv and boast a loyal unwavering viewership that consists of millions of people all over the world.
Some contestants, such as Jeopardy ‘s Ken Jennings, amaze us with their intelligence. While others, wow us with their incompetence .
The latter was certainly the case on a most-recent episode of Wheel of Fortune after contestants inexplicably couldn’t guess what appeared to be a rather easy phrase .
Being a contestant on a game show isn’t easy.
It requires a certain willingness to be vulnerable. You have to understand full well that any success you garnish is shared with the audience. However, any failure you may encounter is all your own.
Over the decades, certain game shows have become engrained into our pop culture.
Arguably, none more so than Wheel of Fortune, with host Pat Sajak alongside TV personality Vanna White. To become a contestant on WOF is to in effect become a part of television history, in your own small way.
That’s precisely what happened to three of ‘Wheel Of Fortune”s most recent contestants — but for all the wrong reasons.
Instead of going down in history, these three will undoubtedly go down in infamy as three of Wheel of Fortune ‘s most dim-witted contestants of all time.
While attempting to solve what appeared to be a rather easy idiom, the contestants proved that it was anything but.
The phrase that they were attempting to solve was “Another feather -n yo-r -a-” — a mere four letters away from what seemed to be a rather straightforward answer.
What followed next were some of the most frustrating minutes of game show television ever aired.
All three contestants tried their hand at solving the puzzle and failed miserably. For whatever reason, the final word of the phrase had them at a total loss.
The first contestant attempted to solve the puzzle by throwing out “Hat” as the final word.
When that didn’t work, another contestant tried their luck by guessing the letter “G,” thinking that the elusive word was actually “Gap.” Sadly, it was yet another miserable defeat.

“Another feather in your map?” the final contestant said, after guessing the letter “P” correctly.
“Another feather in your map” — seriously? They had to have known that answer wasn’t correct. But at this point, all three contestants seemed content to throw spaghetti at the wall, hoping something would eventually stick.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, one of the contestants correctly guessed the letter “C.”
With the elusive final word of the phrase now accounted for, contestants were able to solve the puzzle — much to the delight of the baffled host, Pat Sajak.
“That round is over, but it was fun in a sort of perverse way,” Sajak joked.
Perverse doesn’t even begin to describe it. Watching that round play out felt like watching felt a lot like Saturday Night Live ‘s classic skit, ” Celebrity Jeopardy ,” as opposed to the real thing.
For the record, “A feather in your cap,” alludes to a practice that used to be performed by Indigenous Americans.
For every enemy slain in battle, a warrior would add a feather to his headgear. Today, it denotes any modicum of success that may help or assist an individual at a future point in time.
Not surprisingly, Twitter had a lot to say about the fumbled attempts to solve the puzzle.
Even celebrity Josh Gad seemed to be at a total loss for words, tweeting out “God help us all .” It just goes to show you that being a game show contestant isn’t always as easy as it looks.
