Ice Age was one of the first and most successful animated franchises of all time. This lovable gang of misfits melted our hearts and captivated our imaginations.
They did, however, also manage to make their fair share of slip-ups along the way. Have a look and check out these 10+ Ice Age mistakes that fans didn’t notice.

1. Beware of road apples suddenly appearing.
When Sid realizes that his family has once again abandoned him, he begins to pine. A giant armadillo quickly scurries past and we see that the ground before Sid is barren.
But one step later, and Sid is ankle-high in armadillo scat.
2. There’s something fishy going on.
Take a look at the ground right in front of the baby’s basket. Not a whole lot going on, right?
There is certainly not a big pile of rocks and some random fish just sitting about.
Whoops, it looks like I spoke too soon.
How could someone miss this glaring oversight? I’m not trying to be nit-picky but can this kid just conjure objects out of thin air?
Sure, it’s funny when the fish hits Manny in the face. But it makes no sense!
3. Where did the mammoth go?
Poor Scrat, he just can never seem to catch a break. I’m no paleontologist, but even I can tell that this large foot that just crushed Scrat belongs to a wooly mammoth.
Which should make it pretty easy to spot, right?
Wrong! There is no mammoth in the scene, whatsoever.
I spent a good chunk of my youth trying to find Waldo, and let me tell you — Waldo’s not here!
Scan the scene all you like, you’re not going to find a mammoth anywhere in the bunch.
4. How is Sid hiding behind that tree stump?
Take a look as Sid tries to steal the watermelons. He does so by sneaking up behind the flock of birds and ducks behind a stump.
But as soon as the camera cuts, you’ll notice that the stump isn’t even up to Sid’s knee. How did he get so low?
5. What happened to the mud on Sid’s face?
Who doesn’t appreciate a good mud-mask every now and again? As Sid sits and soaks, you can tell that he has a big patch of mud across his face. He unknowingly uses Manny’s trunk to wipe it off partially.
But when the camera cuts, the mud is totally gone and Sid is clean as he ever was.
6. Is Scrat on the ground or in the air?
Right at the beginning of the movie, pay attention as Scrat tries to escape the collapsing walls of ice.
You’ll see him slide on top of the acorn, across the ground, until finally he becomes wedged between two sheets of ice.
Then in the next scene, he’s somehow managed to rise nearly 20 feet in the air?
It’s almost as if Scrat’s world gets turned upside down before our very eyes.
Make sure to pause and rewind so that you can get the full effect.
7. What happened to the blanket?
Watch carefully as Sid scales the rockface with the baby in his arms. As you can see, he’s clearly swaddled in skins and blankets.
But when he begins to slip from Sid’s grasp, something funny happens…
The blanket completely vanishes from sight!
At first, I thought that perhaps the blanket just fell to the ground below.
But when the camera cuts to Manny’s vantage point, you can clearly see that there’s nothing at his feet. Spooky, isn’t it?
8. How did the baby survive the icicles?
The guys only made it out alive because they had the good fortune of sliding on the iceblock.
So how exactly was the baby able to navigate that minefield of ice and snow?
9. Where did that leash come from?
In order to help rescue his son, the man uses his dog to help track the scent. From this picture, you can clearly see that there’s no leash or collar around the dog’s neck.
But when the camera zooms in, you’ll see the man pick up a leash as he walks away.
10. Did Sid just disappear?
Right before Sid and Diego settle-in for the night, they talk about what a great guy Manny is. From this image, you’ll notice that Sid is on Diego’s right.
Keep watching as the camera pans to a wide angle of Diego…
In the blink of an eye, Sid is nowhere to be seen.
Shouldn’t we be seeing a giant lump of a sloth sleeping soundly next to Diego? The camera view is from the exact same side!
