Even though they can be rare and seemingly impossible, coincidences are things that are bound to happen from time to time. I mean, if they never happened, we probably wouldn’t have a word to describe them.
Still, you’ll occasionally stumble across a coincidence where the odds seem impossible . Let’s have a peek.
“This painting in a waiting room is the same print as my phone case.”

I think of this aesthetic as “’90s mom.” I can’t say for certain if the phone case or the wall art was picked out by a ’90s mom, but I wouldn’t bet against it.
“Two hummingbirds landed at the same time on my rods while out fishing!”

I absolutely love this pic, and I’m not entirely sure why. Maybe it’s because the hummingbirds look so contented with their new perches.
“Random stranger and I have wedding rings cut from the deck of the same WWII battleship.”

There were a lot of battleships in World War II, and many wound up at the bottom of the ocean, so finding someone else with such a unique ring seems unlikely at best.
“Slips matched the Airbnb rug.”

It seems like vacation rentals have a lot of randomly matching textures. I wonder if they just make all the decor out of the same materials or what.
“How the A-frame angle of the ladder matches the level counter and the ramp incline.”

This is an immensely satisfying photo. I’m not sure if the person who hung the ladder here knew that the angles would sync up so perfectly.
“Randomly found an old building that matches a painting I have.”

I’d love to know more details on this. Is it a complete coincidence, or was the painting based off of this actual building?
“These number plates are nearly the same.”

It stands to reason that someone out there has a nearly identical license plate number as yours. But what are the chances of them driving the same type of car in the same color?
“Snapped a pic of a bee and caught him swatting away another little bug!”

Nature photographers have to think fast when it comes to photographing fast-moving subjects. It must have been a fun surprise to find this unlikely event captured on camera.
“My beer was double canned.”

How on earth does this happen? I mean, beer cans are a certain size. How can one fit snugly inside another can of the same size?
“This traffic light is showing solid red and green at the same time.”

This is either an example of the shutter capturing the pic at the exact millisecond that red switched to green, or this is a dangerously broken traffic signal.
“My son and I have a freckle on the same part of our hands. Mine on the left, his on the right.”

Most people have random freckles or marks somewhere on their body, so this is definitely a coincidence. Still, it’s cool that family resemblance can take such a subtle form.
“Gradient on this kid’s shirt perfectly matches the handouts.”

I love the neon pink and neon blue against black aesthetic. Apparently, so does this kid, and so does whoever photocopied these forms.
“My car’s mileage today matches today’s date, 12/02/21.”

What can you do when a coincidence like this falls in your lap? I guess you can snap a pic and maybe buy a lottery ticket.
“Found a pair of earrings at Goodwill that perfectly matches the pattern of my dress.”

Thrifters know that secondhand shops often contain treasures. This is just a happy coincidence, but one that might not have happened outside of a thrift shop.
“Cut my thumb open on Christmas Eve. The color of the bandaging the ER gave me perfectly matches a towel in my bathroom.”

I’m used to medical bandages looking sterile and white, not blending in with rustic washroom decor.
“My leggings matched the chair at the vacation rental.”

Here’s another vacation rental with weird textures oddly matching other stuff. Seriously, what are the odds of this specific texture appearing anywhere else?
“My mac and cheese flavor dust are 2 different colors, and they match the box discoloration.”

I wonder if this person did a taste test to determine whether they like the orangey powder or the yellowy powder better.
“My mother in law’s outfit accidentally matches the restaurant’s flooring.”

I wonder if this woman got angry at the restaurant designer for ripping off her unique look. If so, she could always wait to ambush them with perfect camouflage.
“I saw my door in a book.”

I’m sure this is a relatively common door design, but it’s still pretty cool to see it replicated to a T in a random book.
“These airplane trails crossing in the same spot.”

I’ve seen airplane contrails intersect before, but never this perfectly. Were they trying to form a perfect asterisk or what?
