Halloween is over, and the holidays are in the air. For some that might mean sipping hot chocolate while listening to nonstop Christmas music. For others, it's all about the movies.

And among the beloved holiday movies is The Muppet Christmas Carol. A take on a classic Christmas tale (featuring Muppets, of course), it's truly a fan favorite.

And now, viewers will be able to watch the original cut of the film.

Featured in the VHS version of The Muppets Christmas Carol, fans remember "When Love Is Gone," a song that featured in an emotional part of Scrooge's story.

It wasn't in the theatrical version of the film, though.

And while those of us who remember VCRs might have been able to hear the song, it was cut out of the DVD release, and effectively lost to time (unless you still had a VCR and the VHS version around).

But fans of the emotional song are finally getting what they've always wanted.

In December, Disney+ is planning on releasing an extended version of The Muppets Christmas Carol, which will feature "When Love Is Gone." It literally feels like Christmas morning.

Starting December 9th, the extended cut will be available to stream.

The theatrical/DVD version of the film has already been available on the service, but now, three decades after the film's initial release, the version with the song will be available as well.

Previously, the song was part of the 4K release of the film.

The version of the film featuring the song was unearthed in 2020, meaning that it was used for the 4K remaster. But it wouldn't have been ready to add to streaming in time for Christmas.

Luckily, it's back for the film's 30th anniversary.

We might have had to wait an additional two years from Disney's announcement that they were bringing the lost song back, but it was definitely well worth the wait!

Previously, Disney+ released the song as a deleted scene.

You can actually find the entire "When Love Is Gone" sequence as a deleted seen added as an extra to the service. But it's just not the same as having it in the actual film.

Still, it was better than nothing.

Sure, pausing the movie, playing the song at the moment it would be in the original cut, and then resuming it is a hassle, but sometimes you do what you've got to do.

Thankfully, that isn't the case anymore.

And I don't know about you, but that instantly shot The Muppets Christmas Carol to the top of my Christmas movies list to watch this upcoming holiday season.

The wait is finally (almost) over!

December 9th is just a few short weeks away, so make sure you save the date for a fun family movie night (or a movie night by yourself, no judgement here!).
