It almost seems inevitable at this point that Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will run for president someday. After all, he's universally beloved and there's already a precedent for the U.S. having a celebrity president.

While he isn't shooting down the idea altogether, it seems like Johnson is content — for the time being, at least — to bide his time and hang out with his family.

Where do these rumors come from?

Celebrities are constantly linked to politics, and sometimes they do indeed launch successful political careers — Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan are two notable examples.

Dwayne Johnson hasn't campaigned before, but there's a big-time grassroots effort dedicated to convincing him to run for president.

What does The Rock think of these rumors?

It's interesting to note that he's never fully poured cold water on the rumors that he'll launch a career in politics. That said, he's never fully committed, either. It seems like he's adopting a wait-and-see approach.

Right now he's focused on family.

In an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper, Johnson said, "I'm just really grounded and humbled by the interest on both sides. But the number one job, and my number one title that I love right now is 'Daddy.'"

Does that mean we'll never see President Rock?

Nope, it does not mean that at all.

"I have seriously considered [running for office]. You have to," he said. "When you start looking at some of these polls, and these numbers creep up into the 46 percent, 50 percent of the country would vote for me should I run ... I've been really moved by that."

He could literally be the most popular candidate ever.

A 2021 poll said that a whopping 58 percent of Americans would support a presidential ticket that included Dwayne Johnson and Matthew McConaughey. It seems that if these two paired up, they'd be unstoppable.

Johnson's busy with his kids right now.

In addition to his 21-year-old daughter Simone that he had with his first wife, Johnson has six-year-old Jasmine Lia and four-year-old Tiana Gia with his wife Lauren Hashian. Any parent can understand how time-consuming this can be.

What do we know about his politics?

Johnson has avoided labels and doesn't link himself to either of the major parties. This doesn't mean he hasn't made political statements, though: after the death of George Floyd, he spoke out to call for change.

He admits he has a lot to learn.

"I don't know anything about politics," he acknowledged in the interview with Tapper. "I will say that I'm a patriot, and I love our country and I love everybody in it, regardless of color or culture. Don't care what your bank account says or what kind of car you drive."

Would you vote for him?

If Dwayne Johnson ran for president, he'd be a political rookie, albeit it one with plenty of star power, running for the highest office in the land.

Would you support his ticket? Would it matter which party he chose? Let us know what you think in the comments.
