Now that many of us are going on vacations , there are a few things we need to remember, especially when it comes to staying at a hotel .
So when I recently stumbled upon this TikTok video where a hotel worker shared her dos and don’ts, I thought I would share her tips with the rest of you. Something tells me that there might be at least a few you may not be aware of, alright. Let’s go.
Are you ready?
TikToker Evangeline has worked in an American hotel and had a few things to say about it. She wanted people to be aware of some things before they book their next stay. Aww, that’s nice, huh? Okay, let’s get on with it. Shall we?
This Reservation Tip
Let me ask you something when you book a hotel room do you add all the people to the reservation? Well, you should. Why? This is Evangeline’s number one tip. If something happens to the primary person on the reservation and you need to get into your room, but your name isn’t on the record, you’re pretty much out of luck. Oh, yeah, they won’t even give you a spare key. Aha!
Sign Up For Those Points
Even before you travel, it’s a good idea to sign up for the hotel’s points program. These days you don’t need to wait to accumulate lots of points to get some sweet perks. I’m talking about Amazon points and whatnot. Oh, that’s good to know, huh?
These Cleaning Tips:
Here’s the thing, your hotel room does get cleaned between guests. But can you really trust how thorough the cleaning is? Um, no! Not everybody cleans the same way, and the same can be said about the hotel cleaning staff.
Here’s What You Do:
It’s not a bad idea to bring a few cleaning supplies. For example, before you use that remote control, wipe it really well. You can’t see what is hiding in all those crevices, and I, for one, don’t want to even know about it, hehe.
What About The Bed Spread?
What about it? Oh, yeah! Don’t sit on it. The best thing is to just take it off. The truth is that most hotels don’t wash the bedspread very often. We’re talking about once a year. Oh, no! I know it’s shocking, but it’s just the way it is. So do yourself a favor, and get rid of it.
What About Other Stuff?
You also shouldn’t use the glasses that are in the room without washing them. They’re usually just reused between guests if they weren’t technically used. This is actually something I’ve heard about before, so I always wash them if I plan on using them myself.
Here Are A Few More Tips:
Let me ask you, do you ever walk around in a hotel room barefoot? Don’t! I mean, those carpets aren’t as clean as you think they are. Oh, yuck! Now that I think about it, it makes total sense.
Evangeline also suggests using flip-flops when taking a shower. Really? Shucks. I guess I’m packing those from now on.
And, Last But Not Least….
Don’t use that ice bucket without putting a liner in it. I had no idea about this. Evangeline also says not to use washcloths on your face or even your body. Stick to the bath towels but use them gingerly. Heck, I think I’m just bringing my own from now on.
