When you come from a previous relationship where you were hurt or burned by someone else, it can be hard to fully trust someone new. Even though you may care for and love your partner, those feelings of fear always resurface eventually.
In relationships, couples oftentimes make “rules” that they want their significant other to follow.
Usually, these rules have to do with people of the opposite sex. Many women and men do not want their significant other to be friends with those of the opposite sex, especially if they have a few trust issues.
And when you add social media into the mix, relationships can get a bit complicated.
Social media can cause a lot of problems in a relationship for many reasons. Many couples feel as though if they do not know everything, then shady business must be going on. Many couples also establish rules about social media and what they can and cannot do on apps like Instagram.
One TikTok user recently opened up about her own rules for her boyfriend.
TikTok user @ thefreakshowcircus recently shared a TikTok video in which she explains many of the rules she makes her boyfriend follow on social media. While the rules may seem “extra” to some, she says every guy she has ever dated has followed this set of rules.
One rule is that they are not allowed to follow or “be friends” with anyone they’ve been romantic with.
In fact, the TikTok user takes it a step further and says anyone they have ever been romantic with—which is dating, sleeping with, or even holding hands with—has to be blocked. This way he can’t have access to his exes at all.

She also forbids them to follow new women after they start dating.
If he wants a new friend, it’ll have to be a man. In addition, no man she dates should be searching or looking for any girl’s names in the handlebar on the Instagram search.

The TikTok user also shared that the “explore page” is catered to things that people click on and look at, so by not allowing him to like photos of girls, the explore page also won’t allow him access to models and such.
Many women said that these rules were a bit much.
Some women said the rules seem to imply that the girl doesn’t trust any guy that she is dating. Another said that if he is into you, it shouldn’t matter what girls post on Instagram or showcase on the app, because he will be faithful to you.
However, some women felt that the rules were justified.
They felt that men should have enough respect to not look at other women when they are dating. They went on to say that telling them to have respect for you should not be so controversial.
Some people said that many guys will do this on their own if they care.
They explained that they will probably do this on their own, rules or no rules. They shared that many guys stop looking at other girls when they are with someone they truly love and care about.
