Alright! So today we’re going to be looking at scenes that were weirdly familiar, and that, you, the reader, may not have noticed!
That’s right, you! The one reading this right now!
1. ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ And ‘Pulp Fiction’

Wow, bet you that’s the first time you’ve heard these movies compared.
Nevertheless, they both feature a scene where a man or a woman (or a boy and a girl in Moonrise Kingdom’s case ) dance in a wide shot.
2. ‘Requiem For A Dream’ And ‘All That Jazz’

Both these films, which involve drug use of some kind, feature a montage where one of the characters do drugs in a close-up, sped up, kind of way.
Also, there’s an eyeshot.
3. ‘Mustang’ and ‘Virgin Suicides’

Both of these movies have a scene where the girls are all lying together, some on top of each other, some in opposite directions, doing what I assume girls do at slumber parties: lying there.
4. ‘Kill Bill’ and ‘Lady Snowblood’

It’s not surprising that Quentin Tarantino would take from Japanese films, considering he’s a fan.
So there’s one scene where the bad guys look down at the camera in each of the films.
5. ‘Slither’ and ‘Nightmare On Elm Street’

Ahh, is there anything scarier than something coming to get you while you’re in the bathtub?
Slither and Nightmare on Elm Street both seem to think so because they both have that scene.
6. ‘Requiem For A Dream’ and ‘Perfect Blue’

Here we see a case of Western live-action movies taking a scene from an anime.
In this case, it’s a scene where someone screams face down in a bathtub.
7. ‘Paprika’ and ‘Inception’

Oh, would you look at that, another scene where a Western live-action film borrowed from an anime.
In this case, it’s a weird changing room a man in a suit walks across.
8. ‘Persona’ and ‘Mulholland Drive’

No need to adjust your monitors here, people, because both these movies feature a scene where the characters become all wonky and are superimposed above moving images of themselves.
9. ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ and ‘Full Metal Jacket’

Moonrise Kingdom is once again going to be compared to a movie you never thought it would be. In this case, Full Metal Jacket .
Both feature an authority figure leading his “troops” behind him.
10. ‘Requiem For A Dream’ and ‘House Of Sand And Fog’

Perhaps the most prolific movie on this list, Requiem For A Dream shares a moment with House of Sand and Fog .
In this case, it’s a scene where a character stands at the end of a boardwalk.
11. ‘Snow White And The Huntsman’

The “gritty reboot” of the Snow White story, where Kristen Stewart plays a version of Snow White that totally kicks b**t.
Chris Hemsworth plays the Huntsman who kicks b**t and Charlize Theron plays the evil witch that… well, you see where I’m going with this.
Is similar to…

Princess Mononoke .
Both the critically acclaimed anime and the blockbuster live-action film feature a deer with a huge rack (not that kind of rack, relax) that appears in a forest scene.
12. ‘The Truman Show’…

The movie where a man is actually the subject of a TV show the entirety of his life and has become so popular that there’s actually a mental syndrome named after it…
Is similar to…

Three movies, actually: Dark City , The Matrix and Existenz .
They are all kind of based on the old philosophical tale of Plato’s Cave, where the inhabitants of a cave are given a false existence and must escape. Sound familiar?
13. ‘Dark City’ and ‘The Truman Show’

Have a similar scene in this case.
Both film’s protagonists use ships to escape their dark realities and discover the truth about the world that they live in.
