Zelda Williams is speaking out about the anniversary of her father, Robin Williams’ passing. As usual, the daughter of the comedy legend will be stepping away from social media on August 11th.
The 31-year-old took to Twitter to explain how fans can honor her father and why she chooses to avoid the internet on this difficult day.

Zelda and her father Robin had a beautiful bond that was visible to all of Robin’s fans.
The two shared a love of films and Nintendo, as seen in their 2011 commercial for the gaming device.
Each year, Zelda takes a break from social media on August 11th, the death anniversary of her father.
It’s hard to believe the world lost beloved comedian and actor Robin Williams six years ago today.
Robin was father to three children — Zachary Pym Williams, Cody Alan Williams and Zelda Williams.
Taking to Twitter, Zelda explained why she stays away from the internet on this day.
“Tomorrow is Dad’s death anniversary. As always, I will not be here. It’s hard for me on regular, good days to remain the person expected to graciously accept the world’s need to share their memories of him and express their condolences for his loss,” wrote.

“As I’ve said in the past, while I am constantly touched by all of your boundless continued love for him, some days it can feel a bit like being seen as a roadside memorial – a place, not a person – where people drive past and leave their sentiments to then go about their days comforted their love for him was witnessed.”
She continued: “But sometimes, that leaves me emotionally buried under a pile of other’s memories instead of my own. After all, even roses by the truckload still weigh a ton. Tomorrow, it is simply too much.”
“In my stead, if you find yourself in crisis and seek out this page hoping to be close to him somehow, please, use any of the following resources if you find you need them. Whoever out there needs to hear it, please use this as your signpost in the desert. Reach out. Seek Help. Keep fighting.”
Zelda concluded by sharing suicide prevention services based all over the world, including The South African Depression Anxiety Group, Crisis Services Canada Hotline and Lifeline Australia.
Last month, Zelda revealed she was donating $69.69 to as many local homeless shelters as she could, in honor of what would have been her father’s 69th birthday.
