It’s not often we find ourselves in a moment that spurs us to action.
Though we may dream of having the opportunity to perform a noble act, they’re often just dreams, as these ‘perfect timing’ type of situations don’t appear for many of us.
It did for one woman though, who saw an opportunity to potentially keep someone safe and could not let herself stand by.
In a pair of videos Leann Sedlock Alley posted to her TikTok account, she shows a scene that caused her to immediately stop and investigate.

The first video starts with some on-screen text that reads, “I saw 3 cops surrounding this young black man.”
She’s immediately met by one of these officers, and while she does speak to him, she makes sure her camera is focused on the other two officers.
“I stopped and asked if he needed help and he said yes,” reads another line.
After a few moments of silence, the officer before her says she’s parked illegally.

So she turns to her boyfriend, who’s still in the driver’s seat, and calls out to him to pull the car forward more. The officer threatens to write her a citation, which she says she’ll take.
“Odd that as soon as this goon was removed from the situation, the man was let go quickly,” she muses in another line of on-screen text.
She asks what the citation is for, which the officer responds, “For parking illegally.”

She notes that the van was immediately moved, had its four ways on, and never truly parked as there was always someone in the driver’s seat. The two argue over this while another line of text reads, “I’m a mother. I want to make sure this young man goes home tonight.”
She records the end of the man’s discussion with the police before they let him go.

Before he walks away, he points towards Leann and says to one of the officers, “Can you tell her I say thank you?”
The second video starts with the officer Leann had been speaking to inspecting her ID. He begins explaining how she supposedly stopped illegally, while the text reads, “Prepare for ‘man cop splaining’.”
He goes on, but Leann rebuts every accusation.

“He is really trying to rewrite the whole scenario,” it says while he continues to describe what she did. She assures him that she has it all on camera, to which he says, “I’m glad you do,” in a condescending tone.
In the end, he decides to let her go without the citation. “Now, since you’re a veteran, I’m not gonna write you a ticket,” he explains.
They exchange a few more words, tensions high, then part ways.
The comments were in full support of Leann and her actions.

“THIS is how you use your privilege for good,” said one comment. “I love this.”
“[Thank] you so much for stopping, you could have saved his life,” said another with the gratitude that was shared among all replies.
About the officer, one person said, “The fact that he got so agitated that he was even there says a lot.”
Leann can go about her day knowing she did the right thing.
She was not only thanked by tons of people in the comments of her video, but by the man himself, who was the one in potential danger. Knowing she helped him and he was happy she was there is all the approval she needed.
