When frustrating situations arise, it’s often tempting to throw a fit and make a scene in an effort to make the situation better.
However, one woman from New Orleans decided not throw a fit, but she did make quite the scene when she threw an one-year anniversary party for the incomplete roadwork out front of her house.
Pettiness level? Off the charts. And we are here for it.
It was an unconventional party.
New Orleans resident Natalie Harvey decided to plan something a little unconventional. She decided to invite guests, get decorations, and throw an entire party in a creative way to illustrate one big problem in her Lakeview neighborhood.
“Happy first birthday to our street construction,” Harvey wrote in a Facebook post , along with several photos of the not-so-happy occasion. “It was one year ago this week when they first began to rip up our street. One year later, half the street is impassable — just last week, we had a massive, 6-foot-deep hole!”
It was a bittersweet party.
While the concept is certainly quirky and also pretty funny, it was born out of a great amount of frustration over the lack of organization surrounding her neighborhood construction. Nothing was getting done in a timely manner.
“As an example, they’ll work every day for a week, then there will be two to three weeks with nothing,” she told Fox 8 . “The work has definitely picked up in the last couple of weeks. But you never know when it’s going to stop and when it’s going to start back up again.”
Harvey went above and beyond with her own replica of the construction.
To make her party even more unique she created a replica of the actual street scene in cake form.
This spectacular cake had two layers of chocolate sponge with a peanut butter frosting. It’s hard to believe that construction work could ever be so sweet.
Her post went viral.
Not only did all of her guests make it to the construction work’s birthday party, but fans quickly began sharing her amusing yet impactful Facebook post . With thousands of reactions and shares, people are certainly sympathetic to Harvey’s frustration over living on an impassable street.
Hopefully the city takes this little party as a reminder that there’s work needing to be done and finish up that construction project ASAP.
Let us know what you think of this story and if you relate to Harvey’s situation!
