When you hit a milestone and achieve a new personal best in life, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating. You have to pat yourself on the back when you deserve it, because you can’t always rely on other folks to do it for you.
And you should always take the opportunity to share your joy with the world, too. Spreading joy is what it’s all about! And folks, you couldn’t pry the smile off this woman’s face with a crowbar after her big day.
Water monsters do exist, and Paula Cathey Smith has the proof after reeling in an 88-pounder on a recent fishing trip to Kentucky Lake.

This is no fish tale, where the size of a catch gets bigger every time you tell it. No, Paula managed to get the whole experience, from hook to release, on video.
The mighty catfish had her rod bowing right from the start, and she struggled for a few minutes with the beast.

And when she did finally get the catfish to the surface, it wouldn’t even fully fit in the net Paula and her companion used to pull it into the boat. When they tried to weigh it, the net broke. But Paula was pretty sure she’d never reeled in anything so big.
And the scale finally confirmed it — she’d landed an 88-pounder, a new personal best for her.

After a well deserved photo shoot with her awesome catch, the catfish was returned to Kentucky Lake, and a tired but ecstatic Paula bid him farewell, saying “Bye, boy. I hope you grow so my grandsons can catch you.”
