Residents of the state of Wisconsin don’t pay much mind to murky water. Sure, they need to be on the lookout for things like bears, wolves, and mountain lions, but the majority have likely never thought twice about jumping into a river or lake.
That’s because Wisconsin doesn’t have wildlife such as alligators, sharks, or crocodiles — at least it never used to. But after a startling discovery made by a pet owner’s cat , residents may want to think twice about what lies beneath the surface.

Black cats have long been associated with mystery and the macabre thanks to time-honored superstitions. In many countries all over the world, a black cat crossing your path is considered to be one of the most unlucky examples of happenstance and is said to bring doom and gloom upon any who are unlucky enough to have come into contact with it. It may sound like hokum to some, but the myth has gained renewed traction in small-town Wisconsin.
Recently, Pet Owner Wendy Wiesehuegel Let Her Black Cat (Named Burnt Toast) Out Of The House For A Morning Prowl.
From the vantage point of her kitchen window, Wendy noticed that Burnt Toast had dragged what appeared to be a large fish from the river onto her lawn. She left her home to go and retrieve the trophy from the proud cat’s mouth, and was quickly made to realize that the object Burnt Toast had procured for her most definitely wasn’t a river fish.
“I Bent Down, And I’m Like, ‘That’s Not A Northern [Pike] Or A Fish,’” Wendy Recalled To ‘Fox News’. “I Said, ‘That’s A Gator.'”
The head of the alligator was almost fully intact, complete with gleaming unblinking eyes and a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth. ” I was kind of excited at first because you could never see anything around here,” Wendy continued.
Realizing what had to be done, Wendy quickly got on the phone and called the Department of Natural Resources. Considering that alligators aren’t native to Wisconsin, she knew that this was something they’d want to see.
What’s Even More Bone-Chilling Is That Wendy Is Convinced She Saw Yet Another Alligator Three Days Prior While Boating With Her Brother-In-Law.
“He just laughed it off like, ‘ No, it’s not a gator ,’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, it probably isn’t one,’ and we just kind of dismissed it, and then this showed up,” Wendy said.
Both Wendy and her brother-in-law were relieved that they spotted the gator now, as opposed to in the hot summer months when people would’ve been swimming. As to how the gator got there is anyone’s guess, but one thing’s for certain — Wisconsinites should think twice before diving head-first into murky waters.
