Or, it can be topped on a BLT sandwich for lunch. And, who doesn’t want a bacon cheeseburger for dinnertime? Clearly, we all know bacon is multi-useful.
While we all love bacon, we all have very specific ways to cook it, too.
Most of us at home, when we are going to be cooking bacon, do so in a skillet pan. We heat the pan over an open flame and warm the pan up, before gently dropping the bacon in and listen to that sweet sizzle. The smell that fills our kitchen and our homes is truly one of a kind.
Other people have different ways of cooking bacon, too.
While some of us prefer cooking bacon in a skillet pan, there are those who use their air fryers to cook bacon for a “healthier” spin. Others enjoy using a baking sheet and oven-cooking their bacon at around 450 degrees.

The key to cooking delicious bacon for all of us is that the bacon cooks in its own fat and grease. This usually locks in flavor and also makes it taste so salty and delicious. However, it’s super unhealthy and can be the reason that we pack on the pounds.
Now, if you want to eat bacon and also stay on the healthy side, there are some ways you can do so.
Cooking bacon in a healthy way seems kind of impossible. Bacon, in itself, is usually greasy and fatty—so getting it to be “healthy” seems to be quite an impossible task. However, TikTok is here to save the day with a new hack that’s changing the way you see bacon entirely.
One TikTok user showcased that you can cook bacon and get rid of the fat and grease.
One TikTok user on the Right Guys Review account showcased you can cook bacon in the oven and get all of that grease and fat to drip right off. However, it’s not a conventional way to cook it at all. You will need a few things to get the job done.
First, you need a wooden stick and a pan with tinfoil.
You’ll have to push the wooden stick through the bacon so that it hangs off, like dry cleaning on a rack. Then, you’ll put the wooden stick across the oven grates so that the bacon is basically hanging in mid-oven air.
The pain with foil goes under the bacon.
As the bacon cooks, the grease drips off of the bacon onto the pan, getting rid of that “fatty grease” that can become fattening and also unhealthy. The bacon cooks to a crisp in the oven, just not in its own fat.
Many online were impressed.
Many people were impressed with the hack especially when they saw how much fat dripped off onto the pan. Some TikTok users said they were ready to try this themselves at home so they can enjoy bacon without so much guilt.
Others were not as convinced.
Some people pointed out that the white stuff on the pan was not “fat” from the bacon, but water.
“Cheap bacon is injected with water and salt. If you get premium bacon you will notice there is none of that white stuff bubbling out of it,” one TikTok user said.
Some people said the bacon looked “dry.”
Other people pointed out that the bacon doesn’t look too appetizing and it looked really dried out. Not cooking the bacon in the grease made it look dried out and almost looked like freeze-dried meat/jerky, rather than delicious and freshly cooked bacon.
And, experts suggest that either way, the bacon is not going to be “healthy.”
“I don’t think this would make much difference to how “healthy” the bacon is, as the white fat is still on the rashers, which contains the most saturated fat (and is not ideal when frequently consumed in large quantities),” said Nutritionist Holly Snowdon .
