What would you do if a mountain lion decided to come into your home?
Personally, I’d probably drop a match, run away forever, and just cut my losses. Seriously though, this is the predicament one California couple recently found themselves in.
Sonora, California is a gorgeous place.

It’s adjacent to all kinds of breathtaking flora and fauna. That includes, of course, stuff you don’t want in your house. Specifically, wild animals like bears and mountain lions.
A family was watching TV in their living room.

It was a night like any other in Sonora, as local couple Edward and Kathy Sudduth sat down to see what was on television. The next thing they knew, the stakes were raised significantly.
They had a furry home invader.

“We were just watching television and then all of a sudden, we heard a big bang,” Edward Suddeth told reporters. And that bang they heard was none other than a mountain lion.
Yes, a full-grown mountain lion pulled a Kool-Aid Man and busted into their cozy living room.
The lion locked itself into the bathroom.
After a few seconds of chaos, which even included the mountain lion running full-on into Kathy, the big cat, unfamiliar in this interior environment, scrambled into the bathroom and somehow locked itself inside.
They called the sheriff’s office.

With the mountain lion locked in the bathroom, the couple barricaded themselves in a different room and called 911. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office took it from there, providing this Facebook update .
Here’s what authorities found.

No big deal of course, just a massive wildcat relaxing in the bathroom. From the looks of things, it had been napping before sheriff’s deputies busted down the door to get inside. Which was a little rude of them, if I do say so myself.
Quite surprisingly, this sort of situation is not actually all that uncommon.
There are plenty of places in the United States, not to mention the world, where wildcats live in close proximity to people. In general, they’re unlikely to attack, although that doesn’t make them any less intimidating.
Fellow cats applauded the humane handling.

I didn’t know that Facebook accounts for specific big cats were a thing, but check this out. It’s nice that the sheriffs handled this so well, and it’s also sad that Mountain Lion P-38 is apparently dead.
All’s well that ends well.

Deputies didn’t have to tranquilize the mountain lion. As it turns out, they just had to make some loud noises and the big cat, startled, scrambled out a nearby window.
What’s the takeaway here?
Well to be honest, there really isn’t much of one.
There’s no cautionary tale here, as this couple was totally minding their own business when a mountain lion literally invaded their space. Either way, we’re glad this story ended the way it did.
