Not all photographs are created equal.
With portraits, one can ask a model to pose a certain way and ultimately work with a previously conceived image of the project in the photographer’s mind.
In contrast, nature photography is pretty much always candid , particularly with wild animals. You can traverse particular areas where you know certain animals live, but ultimately, taking photos of mother nature is a lot like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re gonna get.
One photographer from the Netherlands didn’t know what to expect when looking for inspiration in Vienna, Austria.

34-year-old Dick van Duijn spent over two hours and took 200 photos attempting to capture a specific animal: squirrels.
“I went to Austria especially to photograph the ground squirrels,” he explained to SWNS.
Van Duijn’s work managed to pay off when a miraculous moment unfolded before his eyes.

In a series of breathtaking photos, the photographer manages to capture the exact moment in which a squirrel investigates a daisy, takes a whiff, and attempts to take a small bite out of it.
“I was really happy after capturing a photo like this.”

“This curious ground squirrel started smelling and tasting the flower,” he told Fox News . “It was great to witness this, and very satisfying.”
That squirrel is 100% posing. Fight me on it. I dare you.

It’s not every day that we get to witness such a touching moment in beautiful detail.
