If you didn’t already know, yesterday was the second anniversary of Parts Unknown star, Anthony Bourdain’s death.
His iconic role in the food television community is something that will never be forgotten. So, it was only fitting that a clip of him gushing over a Waffle House went viral on the anniversary of his passing.

In case you didn’t already know, yesterday was the date of Anthony Bourdain’s untimely passing two years ago.
The Parts Unknown personality and chef, who had suffered from mental illness and addiction for many years, took his own life in 2018.
Fortunately, Anthony spent his life travelling the world, meeting people, and having meals with with them, leaving a lasting impression on not only everyone he met, but everyone who had the pleasure of watching it on television.
And anybody who has watched Parts Unknown or read any of his books, knows that he had a gift for seeing the beauty in everything .
An apple wasn’t just an apple. He had a way of describing food as though every bite had a story to tell. He believed that food was a fundamental part of human connection, and had a natural way of bringing people together.
His genuine curiosity for food, places , and people, was contagious and evoked a zest for life within all of his fans.
So, after two years of him no longer being with us, it was especially heartwarming when an old clip of a *Parts Unknown* episode suddenly went viral.
The clip was quintessential Tony B.
You could not have asked for a purer example of who he was!
The clip of him that went viral on Twitter was of him at a South Carolina Waffle House, doing what he did best, *gushing* over the food and its origin story.
While waffle houses are typically far from something you’d write home about, Anthony spoke on it like it was a rare and expensive delicacy.
“It is indeed marvelous,” he said.
As the camera pans out, showing different parts of the restaurant and food from different angles, Anthony continues to narrarate:
“An irony-free zone where everything is beautiful and nothing hurts.”
He described the restaurant, essentially, as a safe space for everyone no matter where they’re from or what they look like.
“Where everybody, regardless of race, creed, color or degree of inebriation is welcomed,” he said .
“Its warm yellow glow, a beacon of hope and salvation,” he went on.
“Inviting the hungry, the lost, the seriously hammered, all across the south, to come inside. A place of safety and nourishment .”
He sounds a little like Bob Ross.
“It never closes, it is always, always faithful, always there for you,” he added.
The episode originally aired back in 2015, during the sixth season of Parts Unknown .
It was, seemingly his first time visiting a Waffle House, as he described it as, “unfamiliar with its ways .”
It was actually quite comical to hear this culinary master speaking so highly about simple, American, comfort food. But that’s what made this particular clip so iconic.
He called the restaurant chain a, “magical, spiritual place”.
After devouring his breakfast, the praise only continued. He *really* loved this place.
After just taking a couple of bites, he admitted he thought the food tasted “better than the French Laundry” — and that’s saying a lot!
“[Waffle House cuts] “right to the center of what makes our country great,” he said.
Fans think that Anthony’s Waffle House monologue is something to behold — something that deserves to be put on display and locked into history.
Others found re-watching this specific clip to be a very emotional experience.
Anthony Bourdain lived an extraordinary life. He shared his enthusiasm over the little things with the world and touched many lives.
It’s no surprise that listening to this specific narration could be triggering to some people!
Ultimately, I think that all fans can agree that this is, by far, the greatest description of any restaurant, ever.
He didn’t have to go so hard on his Waffle House monologue — he did that for us, and we love him for it.
