During a rare on air interview, Hollywood legend Val Kilmer spoke with Good Morning America about his new memoir, I’m Your Huckleberry .
In his memoir, the relatively quiet actor is opening up about his throat cancer battle for the first time.
“I feel a lot better than I sound, but I feel wonderful,” Val said.
“I was diagnosed with throat cancer, which healed very quickly,” he explained.

“This is a tracheotomy to help me breathe because the glands in my throat swelled up as well.”
The actor has revealed he underwent a tracheotomy, chemotherapy and radiation while battling throat cancer.
When asked about what he misses the most about his old voice, he replied he misses having one.

“That I had one! That I didn’t laugh like a pirate,” he said.
The 60-year-actor proved his wit is still intact.

I’m Your Huckleberry also divulges into Val’s romantic history, a subject he has been very quiet about in the past.
“I’m committed. You have to be committed with a woman that’s as dynamic and as committed to their work,” he explained.
