New questions about President Donald Trump’s relationship to disgraced criminal Jeffery Epstein have arisen following the new release of emails obtained by Congress, and Trump has since responded to the claims.
The emails were released on Wednesday
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee shared three redacted email correspondences on Wednesday, November 12.
One of the shared emails was written by Epstein to his personal confidante Ghislaine Maxwell and the other two were to Trump’s biographer Michael Wolff.
The emails were among other documents
These newly-shared emails were among other documents allegedly received by the Oversight Committee from the Epstein estate, according to a news release, per CNN.
The first email exchange, which is between Epstein and Maxwell, is dated April 2, 2011.
He wrote to him about Trump
“I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump,” Epstein wrote to Maxwell. “[Redacted victim’s name] spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned.”
Maxwell replied, “I have been thinking about that…”
Another exchange was with Wolff
The second exchange was between Epstein and Wolff dated December 16, 2015, where Wolff seems to be warning Epstein that CNN might ask Trump a question about their relationship during a presidential debate.
The journalist and author seems to have advised Epstein to let Trump say what he wants. The New York Times reported that ultimately, Trump wasn’t asked about Epstein.
Epstein alleged Trump ‘knew about the girls’
The third exchange was also between Epstein and Wolff, and was dated January 31, 2019.
Epstein wrote to the author and journalist, “[Redacted victim’s name] mara lago,” followed by a redacted segment.
“Trump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever. . of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop.”
Trump has since responded to this
Since the release of these email exchanges, Trump has taken to Truth Social for a response.
He wrote, “The Democrats are trying to bring up the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax again because they’ll do anything at all to deflect on how badly they’ve done on the Shutdown, and so many other subjects.”
The President called it a ‘trap’
“Only a very bad, or stupid, Republican would fall into that trap. The Democrats cost our Country $1.5 Trillion Dollars with their recent antics of viciously closing our Country, while at the same time putting many at risk — and they should pay a fair price,” Trump wrote.
Trump said the whole thing is a ‘distraction’
He went on, “There should be no deflections to Epstein or anything else, and any Republicans involved should be focused only on opening up our Country, and fixing the massive damage caused by the Democrats!”
The White House spokesperson also addressed it
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, 28, also shared a statement where she claimed, “The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump.”
She claimed it’s a ‘hoax’
“The ‘unnamed victim’ referenced in these emails is the late Virginia Giuffre, who repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever and ‘couldn’t have been friendlier’ to her in their limited interactions,” Leavitt added.
“The fact remains that President Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club decades ago for being a creep to his female employees, including Giuffre.”
