Religious and world leaders from around the globe will gather in Vatican City tomorrow for Pope Francis’ funeral, but Donald Trump might not be too happy with the seating arrangements.
Pope Francis passed away at 88 on Easter Monday after being unwell for a while
Starting Saturday, there will be nine days of mourning set in the name of the beloved Pope, kicking off with his funeral.
Crowds have already showed up in huge numbers
A ton of people have already come through to see the Pope’s body. But now, security is stepping in because some people are acting way out of line. Some people were literally snapping selfies with his body. Yikes!
Now, Trump’s in a bad situation because his seat will be way at the back

There’s a rocky history between Trump and Pope Francis, as they didn’t exactly get along. Back in 2016, the Pope wasn’t too happy about Trump’s whole wall-building plan on the US-Mexico border.
He said: “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.”
Trump didn’t exactly stay silent about that
Of course, Trump fired back, saying, “For a religious leader to question a person’s faith is disgraceful. If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS’s ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the Pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been President because this would not have happened.”
He’s had some opinions on Biden’s funeral seating before
When Biden got seated all the way back in row 14 at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, Trump made sure to let people know he found that pretty amusing.
He posted: “If I were president, they wouldn’t have sat me back there – and our Country would be much different than it is right now.”
Oh, how the tables have turned now…
The US President is reportedly getting a third-tier seat at Pope Francis’ funeral.
Here’s how the Vatican decides who sits where
Vatican rules say Catholic royals get the front row. After that, it’s non-Catholic royals like Prince William, who’s showing up for King Charles. Then come world leaders, heads of state, and other top officials.
Putin didn’t even get an invite
Trump at least got invited. Putin still got that ICC warrant over the alleged forced deportation of Ukrainian children, so yeah… no seat for him.
Plenty of big names are still attending
Some major names will be there, though. UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy were included.
And yes, the French language decides the seating chart
The whole seating arrangement is actually based on the French spelling of each country’s name. French is still the official language of diplomacy, so that’s how the original protocol was written up.
