Most people agree that parents shouldn’t have a favorite child. While parents might have unique relationships with each of their kids, favoritism causes resentment and hurt. But one popular Instagram mom claims having a favorite child is actually good. Is this true, or is she trolling?
Her Instagram post shocked many people.
Instagram mom influencer, lis_daily_, posted a video with a long caption explaining that having a favorite child is a good thing. She stated that, “Choosing a favorite child doesn’t mean that for the rest of motherhood, the SAME child is your favorite.”
She claimed that she rotates favorites but may pick a permanent favorite in the future.
The video explained three reasons why she thinks having a favorite is good.
The Instagram video showed Lis holding a baby on her lap with text explaining that favoritism helps motivate the non-favorite children to behave. It means the parent doesn’t have to lie and say they don’t have a favorite.
She also claimed that the favorite child would feel really good about themself.
Commenters were upset and hoped it was all a joke.
The video and caption prompted many people to comment and explain why favoritism is such a bad idea.

Despite the shocking claims, the original video is most likely a joke.
While many viewers were rightfully upset about how this approach would harm kids, a little digging into Lis’s profile revealed that she was most likely joking.
After all, in the video’s caption, she claims that she is a mother of 16. But her Instagram only features three children. Not to mention that the children are all quite young, and she doesn’t look nearly old enough to have 16 children.
Some commenters were in on the troll and took it further.
Instagram user corn_n_cheese said, “You need to do a daily rank. Don’t tell them why, just move their names up and down the list so that they are always left wondering.”
Chelseys_home added, “I think kids should have to do little Hunger Games-type competitions every day to win their parents’ favor.”
But, one never knows with the internet.
While Lis’s video is likely a troll or satire, it’s always hard to tell what people really mean online.
Was the post to garner interest on her page? If that was the goal, it definitely worked!
Many of her other videos are also satirical in nature.
Most of the Instagram page is filled with reels that are obvious jokes. In one, she claims to be selling merchandise to protect against mind control while wearing a bunch of aluminum foil around her body.
So, rest assured you don’t actually have to take her parenting advice as real.
Favoritism can be a real issue, though.
