Hairless or Sphynx cats are a very polarizing topic. Not for their personalities, which are pretty normal by kitty standards, but for their appearance.
Personally, I’m mostly on the side that thinks they’re kind of ugly, but in a fascinating, spooky sort of way, if that makes sense.

It’s definitely true for a certain Sphynx who’s making waves on Instagram.
You see, Jasper isn’t just hairless. He’s also missing both of his eyes.
For most kitties, their fur would hide a lot of the missing eye, but not for Jasper.
Instead, the tight skin of his face only accentuates the empty sockets in a very skull-like way.
It’s both creepy and sort of fascinating too. I mean, how often do you get such a good look at the shape and size of a feline eye socket?

Jasper wasn’t born eyeless.
When his human adopted him at two years old, everything seemed hunky-dory, but he was later diagnosed with Feline Herpes Virus (FHV).
At first, this just meant he had sinus troubles.
However, in 2013 he developed a corneal ulcer in his right eye and the only option was to have the whole eye removed.
Then, in 2018, the same thing happened to his left eye, turning him into the spooky boy he is today.
Seriously, he wouldn’t look out of place in The Nightmare Before Christmas .
Maybe Zero would like a little kitty friend?
A mild stroke in 2019 gave them a scare, but he has since fully recovered.
At 12 years old, Jasper is pretty much a normal, if blind, kitty, and his vet says he has many happy years ahead of him.
He mostly navigates fine by memory and smell, though occasionally will meow for help if he gets confused.
Jasper is a great example of how you can’t judge a book by its mildly creepy cover.
