Everyone knows that they should recycle cans and cardboard. But what about the stuff that’s way too big to be included in any kind of recycling program?
With a little ingenuity, these irregular things can find a new lease on life.
Stadium district.

This old baseball stadium in Osaka was abandoned, but then found new life as a model neighborhood to show off homes.
Totally tubular.

This ‘hotel’ in Austria is composed of sections of old drain pipe. It might be pretty dark in those things at night, but at least they’re sturdy.
Oddly familiar.

We all know that Toys “R” Us is a relic of the past, but this furniture store repurposed the signage in an interesting way.
Feel the heat.

This avant-garde fireplace was actually made out of an old sea mine. Hopefully, somebody took the time to defuse it first.
Bridge to nourishment.

No one is using this old bridge to get anywhere, but it’s found new life as an area for farmers to grow extra crops.
Garbage watch.

This perfectly functional — albeit weird-looking — watch is made entirely of discarded electronic waste. If it wasn’t so colorful, it would be totally steampunk.
The new era of phone booths.

Phone booths are a dying breed so it stands to reason that this airport repurposed a big bay of old payphones as a charging station.
Home office

This desk setup, with its pleasingly industrial design, was made out of an old garage shelving unit. It looks awesome as a workstation.
Kegs everywhere.

Bars tend to go through a lot of kegs so this establishment has found new use for them as urinals and sinks.
The book deli.

When a library undergoes renovations, all those books need to go somewhere. In this case, they were stored in an old grocery store.
Tiny scene.

Jewelry boxes are kind of useless when you think about it. But if you’re the creative type, you can turn them into something incredible.
Keeping things dry, one way or another.

It’s hard to even see what’s going on here but this drying rack is actually made out of an old umbrella.
Take a seat…err, a shovel.

I can’t say that these chairs look particularly comfortable to my eye but it’s hard not to appreciate the creativity.
Life after death.

A hearse is always going to look like a hearse but that doesn’t mean you can’t dress it up with party balloons.
And on the seventh day…

This old church in Spain is now a skatepark. I think this would make for an awesome Tony Hawk level.
Lights, camera, flowers.

Theater types will immediately recognize this metal cylinder as a stage light. Well, it’s a former stage light. Now it’s a planter.
Finger lickin’ good.

A lot of older KFC restaurants have an iconic bucket sculpture out front. When this KFC moved out, the next establishment decided to take advantage.
It wasn’t always a fence.

If you’re wondering why this estate fence in London is shaped the way it is, it’s because it was made out of old World War II stretchers.
Aerodynamic.

This cool-looking swing set frame is made from an old carbon fiber hydrofoil. I love how sleek it looks.
McMansion.

It’s hard to tell that this old mansion is a McDonald’s but it totally is. Just squint and you’ll see the signs.
