There are many things in life that people hold to be important and extremely valuable . Things that they brag about, or talk about a lot as things of value. However, to others , these things are absolutely awful and truly terrible. It all is subjective, depending on who you ask and when you ask them.
However, hearing both sides can be very interesting to say the least.
The whole hustle culture.

horrorharlot1199 points out that people are constantly hyping up and saying how much they love hustle culture. Many describe this as the backbreaking work and time spent to become successful, where all you do is work, work, work.
Many on Reddit agreed that it’s just not sustainable or great.
Toxic productivity.

oceanofflavor pointed out that along with hustle culture, the whole “toxic productivity” phase that many are selling today is straight trash.
Waking up at 4 AM and then spending your day doing step-by-step nonsense, and then selling to people that you can “sell them the lifestyle, too.”
Vloggers and influencers.

Some Reddit users argue that the younger generation holds influencers and other video bloggers on too high or a pedestal when much of the content they create is all the same and unoriginal.
Forcing people to talk about their emotions.

“My boyfriend lost both his little brother and his dad in the span of 6 months. Everyone wanted him to talk it out, and it put so much extra strain on him when he was already grieving.
Somehow out of all his family and friends, I was the only one who just sat quietly with him when he needed that silent presence, or would listen when he randomly would start telling a story at 2am that he remembered about him and his brother,” wrote MatureTeen14.
Award shows.

joozian_ argued that awards shows like the Grammy’s, Emmy’s, Tony’s, etc. are really hard to watch because it’s just a bunch of rich people patting themselves on the back and partying away while also telling all of us Average Joe’s to do more.
The “respect your elders” rule.

Avani14 pointed out that the “respect all of your elders” rule is something that’s pointless and a bit dumb, because not all elders always deserve your respect.
There are “older” people who are terrible humans and deserve no ones respect nor time.
Your youth.

JocelynAngst said that “youth” and looking young is overrated.
Everyone is always bragging about enjoying your youth and holding onto your “young looks” forever. So many different products to look young and surgeries you can get—it becomes too much.
The way we treat celebrities.

“The way we treat our celebrities because we treat them like gods or some other deity when they should be treated like any other normal human being and don’t even get me started on how the Paparazzi are with them,” said SP_21ones.
Always respecting your parents.

Strand-Aldwych said the whole “no matter what, you have to listen and respect them, they’re still your parents” rule is total trash, because some parents leave their kids our to dry and traumatize them entirely.
Not all parents are good parents.
Weddings and the wedding industry.

ezquir3 said that weddings are a total scam and many agree.
While some want to have a nice part to celebrate marrying someone they love, many agree that the industry is an overpriced scam entirely.
Alcoholism and drinking.

strangegeneration94 pointed out that today, many glorify alcoholism and drinking, making it seem that you can only have fun while you are out with people if you are drinking.
It seems to be the popular vote that those who don’t drink, can’t be fun.
Treating politics like sports.

“People absolutely refuse to admit a politician they dislike did anything even remotely valuable in office, or that a politician they ‘like’ isn’t a good person.
Not exclusive to any one side, and some people would miss the point of this comment entirely and say “lol so basically republicans/liberals amirite?” Then call everyone either racist, snowflakes, liberals, communist, hivemind, republitards, etc etc when they get downvoted,” said PvtSmuffler.
People who think “rich” means “classy.”

ladymicrodot pointed out that so many believe that if you’re rich, that means that you have class.
In reality, there are so many people in the world who are wealthy but have absolutely no class at all.
Putting the kids before anything else.

chickenpants80 said families and people who put their kids first are oftentimes unhappy and toxic.
Some parents put their kids first, before themselves or their marriage or anything or anyone else and this can lead to crazy entitlement.
Buying diamonds with your whole check.

Rod___father said that buying a diamond ring for someone with three months’ worth of your salary is outrageous and irresponsible. You can say I love you with a far less expensive ring and even something that’s not a diamond.
