If there is one thing people can’t get enough of, it’s imagining what the apocalypse might be like.
There’s just something about watching people scramble to survive when the world is coming to an end that excites us.
Some of us even look forward to the world ending in real life, so we can apply the skills we’ve learned from movies and shows like 28 Days Later , Dawn Of The Dead , or The Walking Dead .
But we’ve got another one coming to Netflix, and it looks wild .
Apparently we can expect Netflix’s new series “Black Summer” to give “The Walking Dead” a run for its money.
If you’re anything like me, you agree that The Walking Dead has gone on for way too long.
It was a great show, but it ran its course, and it’s definitely time for a fresh new apocalypse series.
There is at least one major difference between the two shows.
The Walking Dead was more of a look at what the apocalypse looked like once the dust had settled.
But Black Summer is going to be based more in the early days of the end of the world.

So we can expect all the characters to be in a state of complete panic.
The plot centers around the main character, Rose — a mother who gets separated from her daughter in the midst of the zombie outbreak.
I’m sure you can tell where this is going…
Rose bands together with a group of people to help find her daughter — but it isn’t all smooth-sailing.
The creator of the show has worked in the apocalypse genre before, but not quite to the same extent.
Karl Schaefer and John Hyams have worked on the series, Z-Nation which spilled more into the comedy category — like Shaun Of The Dead .
But they assures us that Black Summer won’t be anything like that.
In “Z-Nation” they do refer to “Black Summer” as the summer when everything went wrong. So this is technically a spin-off.
But, writer and producer, Karl Schaefer, says that Black Summer is going to focus more on the “old-school” zombie horror element.
“This show is not tongue-in-cheek, it’s very, very serious,”
“It’s as if the zombie apocalypse really happened in 2018 and explores what that would be for all of us. It’s a very unique style that I think people will really respond to,” said another producer of the show, Jodi Binstock.
“It’s only told from the point of view of the characters – we don’t learn anything that the characters don’t and it’s fantastically shot,” she continued, adding:
“The dynamics of the way that they have crafted the storytelling is very cinematic and I think people will really respond to it.”
This eight episode series premieres on April 11th, and we can expect it to make us jump out of our seats in fear.
The scarier, the better — bring it on!
People seem to be very excited for this new series to drop.

I’d call that the understatement of the year. The show looks amazing as hell .
One person joked that the same people who didn’t care so much for “The Walking Dead” being on Netflix, are the same people that can’t wait for “Black Summer”.
I’m sure die-hard Walking Dead fans may disagree with this. But who knows, maybe we can make them believers!
This person misses having a zombie apocalypse show to watch on the regular.
