When the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer dropped, fans collectively lost their minds. They had been waiting for news on the movie for so long, and the trailer delivered it to them.
What was easily the best part of the trailer was the haunting laugh at the end that belonged to Emperor Palpatine.

The trailer of The Rise of Skywalker has been out for a couple of weeks now.
So now, fans are deep into their theories about what will happen in the final movie of the trilogy.
The biggest theory has to do with Palpatine.
The biggest one yet comes from Making Star Wars , who believes that Emperor Palpatine will return to us in the body of another.
Some think that he will be taking the body of a new character.
Here’s your quick refresher on who Palpatine is.
He’s the Emperor of the Galactic Empire, but he’s better known as the Sith master.
He is a master manipulator and he was the one who transformed the Republic into an Empire that he could rule over.
He was supposed to be dead.
Han had fired a blaster shot to Palpatine, effectively killing him.
His spirit, captured by Empatojayos Brand, was destroyed when Brand died. Or so we thought.
Palpatine may come back through another body.
If Palpatine is able to transfer himself from one body to another, he can get to Kylo from another body, or just possess Kylo.
Of course, Kylo has some issues with killing Rey, so it would be interesting to see how he would manage to stop that while being possessed.
Or will he make a straight shot for Rey?
While it would be interesting, it may not work. Rey is way too pure of heart to ever be possessed by someone so evil.
Unless in his attempt to possess her, her good energy would end up killing him in the process.
Palpatine can even try to posses Snoke.
Snoke could easily be a host for Palpatine. They even look the same.
Snoke is technically dead right now, but we also thought Palpatine was dead, so who knows what will happen.
Possessing someone would lead to the final battle.
We can all agree that if Palpatine would possess Kylo, it would allow for the final battle of the trilogy to result between the true light and darkness of the galaxy: Rey and Kylo Ren.
