Ready to see something cursed?
Someone on Instagram decided to use actual jam to do a manicure, and it is exactly as horrifying as you’d expect it to be.
Does food belong in manicures ? Have we as a species gone too far for content ? Let’s find out.
Well, here we go.

This is where we are, people. We’re sticking our nails in jam for views. And unfortunately, I am absolutely entertained by it. I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. I mean, it’s a jam nail. What am I gonna do, not watch it?
I can’t believe this is happening.

In case it wasn’t clear, @ilysmnails is actually a professional nail artist. She applied the jam just as she would regular nail gel, then laid the acrylic nail over it. She scraped off the excess, because she’s about to do something even worse!
Oh wow. Oh my god.

She then poured what I assume is builder gel onto the jam and cured it under a UV lamp. After that, she sanded it down — for comfort, you see.
Thanks, I hate it!
Isn’t that just the worst thing you’ve ever seen? The thing that upsets me is that it actually looks pretty good. The jam’s translucency is cool as hell. I’m horrified, but I also appreciate the aesthetic.
People in the comments were floored.

These two in particular perfectly sum up every thought I have about the nails. They’re stressful, weird, baffling, but somehow kind of beautiful. In short, I don’t have one feeling about the jam nails — I have all the feelings.
Other people were concerned about the hygiene of them.

A lot of people rightfully pointed out that those nails are definitely going to mold. Even a single air bubble inside would let bacteria in. Luckily, I’m pretty sure these nails aren’t meant for long-term wear.
That’s not the only weird thing @ilysmnails has done, however.
Take this set, for example. See how the nails are styled over a few silver rough sponges? That’s because she put bits of the sponge inside the nail. She calls these the “I hate doing the Dishes Sponge Nail Set.”
Anyone up for some tea?
Because these nails will strain your tea for you. Do I know why these were created? No. Do I love that the execution looks absolutely perfect? Yes! I appreciate art, people.
Don’t be fooled by all the insanity, however.
The person behind @ilysmnails is a crazy talented nail artist! She can create almost anything on a nail, which is why she puts crazy things on them in the first place. It’s not only a challenge, it’s a great way to bring people in to show them her beautiful, more normal nail art!
