While the world comprises of men and women in large proportions, statistics have proven over time that there are slightly more men than women roaming the earth. The story of Mihailo Tolotos, an unorthodox Greek monk happened as far back as 1938 but still stays striking to this day. He is described as a man who lived for 82 years without setting his eyes on a woman. Reports show that Tolotos’ life story is not widespread and there aren’t many documented details about him, but the pieces have been put together to decipher how he never came across a female human.

Tolotos’ Life Story
Tolotos was born in 1856, and unfortunately, he never got to meet his mother. She had died four hours after his birth. There was no record of his father, or even any family members therefore, he was left on the stairway of a monastery at Mount Athos. When the monks became aware of his existence by the doorway, Tolotos was taken in and raised within the reclusive walls.
He Had Minimal Contact With The Outside Wolrd
The rules within the monastery were quite restrictive such that Tolotos did not have access to the outside world. Women were also prohibited from entering the monasteries spread across the mountain. There were often tourists coming and going, but this was also restricted to male tourists. Men would often come to experience the monastic life or to join the other monks.
He Never Tried To Explore Beyond The Mountain
While Tolotos grew up and was educated in the monastery, he never thought of venturing beyond the walls, and the mountains. Even as he lived his life adhering to these rules, there was a heavy clamp down on the presence of women and children on the mountain. A law as far back as 1060 banned the presence of women in that vicinity and it was in full force during Tolotos’ time. It is noteworthy that that law is still in its full course.
The Level Of Restriction
While examining the odds of him never seeing or knowing what a woman looked like, Mihailo Toltos had a pretty restricted life. According to DannyDutch , he wasn’t allowed to leave, and the monks were also forbidden from speaking with the people who came in. They were not allowed to bathe, fight, argue to ask questions about life beyond the mountain.
Tolotos Passes On
Tolotos lived 82 years and passed away in 1938. Long after he died, the no-woman law still stands, and all that applied during his lifetime still exists.
