Calling all Gryffindors and Slytherins! All Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws! Today, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the very first Harry Potter film. I know, right? 2001 feels like a lifetime ago and in many ways, it was.
Now, in honor of the milestone, HBO Max has announced that the entire cast will be reuniting in the spring for a special that is sure to be nothing short of magical.
“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” was released on November 16th 2001.
The first time, based on the best-selling “Harry Potter” series by British author J.K. Rowling launched Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson into international stardom.
The books told the story of Harry Potter, a young orphaned boy who learns he’s a wizard on his 8th birthday.
For 11 years, fans watched 8 films chronicling the lives of Harry and his two best friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Now, 10 years since the final films release and 20 years since the first, it’s been announced that a reunion special is in the works!
On Nov. 16, HBO Max announced that Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and other cast members from all eight films will be returning to the halls of Hogwarts for the first time for Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.
The special will “tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new in-depth interviews and cast conversations, inviting fans on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time,” according to the official description.
Fans can expect to see Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, and Ian Hart, and more!
