It seems like we’ve already gone through one of Game of Thrones’s ultra-long winters just waiting for the last season to get here. There hasn’t been a new episode since August of 2017, for Petyr’s sake. But at long last, there’s a sign that all that waiting hasn’t been in vain.
Guys, there’s finally a trailer here.
Just to recap, since it’s been so long, Season 7 ended on a pretty dire note.

As we all know, while Westeros was busy sparring over the Iron Throne and battling out the War of the Five Kings, the real threat has been gathering north of The Wall, and by the end of last season, we knew that things were about to get serious, with the Night King raising Viserion from the dead and riding off to melt down the wall with his undead dragon so the army of white walkers can march right on through.
We also got confirmation that Jon and Dany are getting even closer than they realize, that Arya and Sansa have officially grown up into badassery, and that Bran is armed with a creepy amount of knowledge.

But despite Jon and Dany joining forces and riding dragons into battle and all that, things are looking awfully grim — and the first trailer seems to reinforce that, as usual, we can expect that not every character will make it through this season.
It starts out with Arya, the master assassin, clearly terrified of…something.

You know it has to be a pretty big bad to throw her into a panic at this point in her largely awful life.
But as she says, “I know death, he’s got many faces, I look forward to seeing this one,” you have to think she’s not going down without a fight.
On the Lannister side, Cersei seems to be pleased about something, which is never good news, and she still has the warrior formerly known as the Mountain looming behind her and Qyburn at her side.

We also get a glimpse of some Greyjoy ships, so you know good ol’ Uncle Euron will be back, and they’re loaded down with some Lannister troops shining brightly in their golden armor.
Up north, Jon, Dany, Sansa, Arya, Bran, and the dragons seem to be making themselves home back at Winterfell.

Mind you, they sure have a lot of cleaning up to do after finally ousting Ramsay in the Battle of the B******s.
It’s not all bad news, as we see by the light of a flaming sword that Tormund and Beric Dondarrion are still alive.

Remember, they were on The Wall when the Night King brought it crashing down around them — so they have that going for them, which is nice.
But as Jon reminds us, this season is all about the white walkers.

“They’re coming,” he says. “Our enemy doesn’t tire, doesn’t stumble, doesn’t feel.”
And it sounds like Jaime Lannister is on board with Jon and Dany, no matter what Cersei is up to, as he says “I promise to fight for the living. I intend to keep that promise.”

I know, the final season is still a ways away, with the first episode not due until April 14, but this finally feels like it things are happening and we might just get to find out if anyone survives the whole series, or if the Night King wins in the end.
You never know with this series!
