Last night, the 71st Primetime Emmys were held in Los Angeles, California.
While the award show got a lot of things right, there was one big mistake that never should have happened.
During the annual In Memoriam segment, the show’s producers give a touching tribute to the artists Hollywood has lost this past year.
As Halsey sang a beautiful rendition of Time After Time , the faces and names of those who have passed played on screen.
Among those remembered were Cameron Boyce, Doris Day, Nancy Wilson, Tim Conway, Valerie Harper, and Stan Lee.
However, when it came time to honor composer André Previn, the photo they used was actually of composer Leonard Slatkin, who is still alive.

Slatkin posted on his Twitter about the mistake, saying Previn deserved better.

“I saw that @theemmys posted a photo of me “In Memoriam” rather than the intended Andre Previn. Andre deserved better,” he wrote.
“I had the opportunity to introduce him when he received the @KCHonors.”
“Perhaps he was paying me back for a couple stories I told about him,” he concluded.

“Andre, R.I.P.”
Previn, who died in February, won four Oscars and was nominated for six Emmys over the course of his 89 years.

His musical series Previn and the Pittsburgh was highly acclaimed.
Slatkin is a Grammy award-winning conductor and is currently the musical director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

This mistake joins the list of blunders during award shows In Memoriam segments.
The list includes the Oscars purposely excluding Farah Fawcett in their tribute, the Grammys misspelling Glee star Cory Monteith’s name, and the Oscars mistakenly using a photo of producer Jan Chapman for the late costume designer Janet Patterson.
