The ’80s and ’90s was a beautiful time for young adult novels.
There’s a pretty good chance that you read and loved The Baby-Sitters Club series, right?
If these books were literally your life, we have some pretty exciting news for you.
“The Baby-Sitters Club” series was a staple on many young girl’s bookshelves growing up.
I still remember watching the 1995 movie on repeat.
Did you guys know it starred Rachael Leigh Cook? I just realized that!
Netflix just announced a “straight-to-series order” for a “contemporary take” on the series.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that it’s going to be a “family friendly” adaptation.
As if it’d be anything else, though.
We can expect a “10-episode dramedy”.
“The series will tackle themes around divorce, racism and belonging in a series geared for kids, teens and adults,” THR says.
It’s amazing how these books have held up after so many decades.
Melissa Cobb, vp kids and family at Netflix said, “There has never been a more opportune time to tell an aspirational story about empowering young female entrepreneurs. Together with Ann M. Martin and the team at Walden Media, our ambition is to contemporize the storylines and adventures of this iconic group of girlfriends to reflect modern-day issues.”
Hopefully this is the start of many wonderful books from our childhood returning to the small screen.
Which books would you like to see made into a series?
I’d be down for Junie B. Jones or the Bailey School Kids series!
