Back when we only knew him as the Fresh Prince, Will Smith told us all that parents just don’t understand.
Although there will always be teens who can relate to that sentiment, many will also be quick to point out that this lack of understanding goes way beyond the immediate family. Because even when that song was written, you wouldn’t have to travel far to find a teacher or another authority figure who youths would also tell you are giving them an unfairly hard time.

And it seems that issue has only become more pronounced in the age of the internet since it’s very easy to receive all sorts of judgmental comments from people you’ve never met.
As one teen recently learned, it doesn’t even take any serious effort on our part to set the peanut gallery off.
Earlier this month, 17-year-old Grace Brumfield took some photos with her boyfriend to celebrate her school’s homecoming.
According to Bored Panda , the black dress she wore for the event was inspired by an outfit Princess Diana once wore and she received a lot of compliments on it from her classmates.
However, the reception turned significantly more hostile after her boyfriend’s mom posted the photos on a Facebook group called “Sunflowers and Daisies.”
Brumfield would soon discover that some of the mothers and grandmothers in her community had a lot of negative things to say about her dress, which she then revealed on TikTok.
As she said, “My heart kind of immediately sank because I felt so confident about my appearance and attire that night, and I didn’t want that confidence I had to be in a way stolen from me. I have been picked on my entire life—my freshman year, I moved schools because it got so bad.”
But while it hardly felt nice to be slut shamed and called “trashy” just for wearing a dress she liked, one commenter was particularly extreme in her criticism.
Not content with accusing her of showing private parts she didn’t actually show, this woman went as far as to suggest that she was asking for sexual assault.
As Bored Panda reported, this comment had a personal reason to be particularly disgusting to Brumfield.
In her words, “As a victim of sexual assault, it just made my blood boil because clothes are not the reasons that men and women are assaulted.”
So in addition to making the Tiktok we see here, Brumfield felt she had to respond to that person in particular.
In a reply to the comment, she said that her dress was finger tip length, approved by her parents, and worn with shorts underneath.
She also said, “Nice try tho ma’am. I hope you have a nice day and I hope you don’t call yourself a Christian when you’re calling a 17yr old a tramp.”
In a follow-up video , Brumfield showed that the woman responsible for the comment is now claiming she was hacked.
