So, Super Bowl fans kinda had mixed feelings when the camera landed on Donald Trump during the national anthem.
Trump made history as the first sitting president to show up at a Super Bowl, catching the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles at the New Orleans Superdome on February 9.
The moment the camera panned to Trump during the anthem
Before kickoff, Jon Batiste was up there, giving his all to the national anthem. And right in the middle of it, the cameras switched to Trump, who was settling into his seat in the crowd.
But while the Grammy-winning artist was singing, some people in the stands thought they heard boos directed at the president.
Mixed reactions from the crowd spark debate
“Y’all didn’t boo at Donald Trump loud enough,” someone posted on X.
“That was pretty s**tty to show Trump during Jon Batiste singing the National Anthem, forced me and half of America to boo,” another person wrote.
Others weren’t so sure if it was boos or cheers.
One person asked, “Did they cheer or boo Trump? Difficult to tell.”
Another chimed in, “Did they boo or cheer Trump at the #SuperBowlLIX?”

As the anthem played, Trump stood and saluted.
“I look forward to joining the fans in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX to cheer on two great teams – the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles – as they battle for the National Football League’s Vince Lombardi Trophy,” Trump said in a statement before the game.
Trump praises the Super Bowl as a symbol of the American Dream
“The coaches, players, and team staff on the field tonight represent the best of the best in professional football, but they also embody the best of the American Dream.
“Their hard work, dedication, and tenacity is admirable, and their individual journeys are as inspiring as the drive and determination that has led them to this extraordinary moment.”
Trump links the Super Bowl to national unity and patriotism
“They also represent the hopes and dreams of our Nation’s young athletes as we restore safety and fairness in sports and equal opportunities among their teams.
“Football is America’s most popular sport – for good reason – it fosters a sense of national unity, bringing families, friends, and fans together and strengthening communities.”
A tribute to service members, law enforcement, and first responders
“This annual tradition transcends our differences and personifies our shared patriotic values of family, faith, and freedom heroically defended by our military service members, law enforcement officers, and first responders.”
“We value their devotion to protecting our great Nation and salute their selfless service.”
